The Importance of Being Kind

I believe that being kind to others is one of the most important personal traits we need to practice today in our daily lives.

Being kind means being supportive but non-judgmental.

The old saying that it's not fair to judge a person until we've walked in their shoes proves to be very true in many cases.

There are times we simply don't know what the other person is trying to handle in their life during a given period.

We may not be aware of what physical, mental or emotional problems someone else is struggling with.

Even a good friend or family member might chose to not share a serious problem or dilemma.

Practice being kind.

It's important.

Your kindness may be what is needed to help someone get through the day.

AMEN Mama Pea! I try to do this but if I'm being honest, it IS hard sometimes. I can't stand by & let someone be unkind (mean as a snake) to a server of any kind. I will pull out my mean girl panties for those people.

Michelle - Aw, Michelle, you're so sweet!

DFW - Probably shouldn't say this since I'm on my high-horse of the importance of being kind, but doggone it, some people will exhibit really bad behavior just as long as they can get away with it. So there comes a time when they NEED to be hit over the head with a heavy object. Figuratively speaking, of course. (Although, we have to remember you can't fix stupid.)

Favorite phrase of all time ... "You can't fix stupid"

This is a wonderful post, Mama Pea. So true! And such a good reminder. Any time I get grumpy with someone else I recall "do unto others ..." I always appreciate patience and kindness when I'm not my best self, and it seems such a little thing to pass this on to others.

DFW - :o)

Leigh - You can almost always make a situation into a better one by extending kindness . . . whether that be us extending the kindness or the another person extending it to us. Sometimes hard to remember to do, but so effective.

Kind of what our preacher preached a little about today with not knowing what someone might be going through and showing kindness to others. Timely message for sure!

betty - The events of the last two years, plus very serious world-wide problems, have created untold issues for so many people. If we could strive to share basic kindness, I'm sure it would help at least a little if not much more.

Sincere, Genuine, and Truthful are also high on my list. My Grandma's words ring in my ear: "It doesn't cost you anything to be nice." I think I must not have been being nice at the time I got that admonition!

Cheers

Tim - Oh yes, truthful! I personally have a really hard time dealing with anyone who isn't truthful. I've always said, "Please don't lie to me. Give it to me straight and I'll handle it." (How's that for sounding like a big girl?)
