A couple of years ago (oh my, how time does fly) I made a quilt top that I was thinking of using at holiday time.
Got the top completely done and realized, nope, I'm never going to use it. Not being one to act upon hasty decisions, I folded it up and stuck it away.
I've come across it a time or two including once this past summer when I decided it needed to go to someone who might want to do something with it.
So I'm offering it here as a giveaway, if anyone is interested. Just be aware that this is not a finished quilt, but only the top of a quilt. It needs to be sandwiched with batting and backing and then quilted in some manner.
It measures approximately 60" wide by 70" long and was originally intended as a couch quilt. It's not big enough to fully cover a twin-sized bed. Could be used as a shower curtain! Or how about a table cloth? A hanging curtain for a closet with no door?
All the fabric has a bit of a sparkly glitter to it, even the white background.
You can see I didn't take time to iron it before photographing (bad, Mama Pea, bad), and it has been folded and stored for a while, but a good pressing will take care of any wrinkles. (Oh, if that would only work for my body.)
If you would like to have your name entered in the drawing for this quilt top, just let me know in the comment section.
I'll collect names until Wednesday night, September 23rd (Yikes, how can it possibly be so close to the end of September already?!) and announce the name drawn sometime on Thursday.
Any creative minds out there that have an idea of what to do with this holiday-ish quilt top I made? It's tired of languishing in a drawer and wants to go to a new home where it will be appreciated and able to see the light of day.
It is lovely! I would use it as originally intended. A throw to cuddle in during Christmas time. Thank you for the opportunity.
It's a lovely quilt top and I'm not sure why you wouldn't want it but please add my name to your draw because I'd love it!
Me, Me, Me... Please enter my name. I promise to finish it! Thanks for the giveaway.
Three of you, so far, entered and counting. Yay, yay!
Oh, I love this! I would either use this to enjoy around the holidays or hang from a wall quilt hanger. What a great giveaway - bless you!
I think it would make a beautiful holiday tablecloth, and maybe having it would inspire me to keep my dining table cleared off at least for the holidays. (It tends to collect an embarrassing amount of mail and paperwork.) Please add my name, and thanks!
I would love to receive this beautiful piece of handcrafted art. Please enter my name. I have also enjoyed reading your blog for the last 7 months or so. I would have our local senior center's quilt group finish this for me. I would have a treasure and it helps the seniors raise money for their many projects.
How lovely, I would make it into a knee quilt but would put tabs on it so it could be used as a wall hanging. Would look good in my husband's office (was my craft room). Who ever gets it enjoy it a lot of work has gone into it. I'm just learning to do quilting here in the UK.
We would use it as a throw on the couch in front of the fireplace! It looks adorable! You are wonderful to share such a thing of beauty!
Ooh, I like it! I’ve never quilted anything but I would try quilting it for a sofa blanket.
You’re right. I blinked and September is more than half gone! We haven’t had a freeze yet so I haven’t pulled the rest of the tomatoes yet. I still need to harvest the jalapeños so I can make pepper jelly for my sister. She eats it with a spoon (insert eye roll).
It'd be wonderful for winter and the holidays. Please include me and thank you sharing. Dee
Mama Pea: As much as I would LOVE having a piece of your gorgeous art, I will decline your generous offer. I have too many UFO's in a big Rubbermaid bin, (3 of which are quilt tops!) and it would be sacrilege if your art wasn't finished and displayed!
Lovely....throw my name in the hat please.
I want it. Beautiful. I do so miss my quilting...sigh.
That's lovely! Please add my name to your list! Lot of work went into it!!
You're all entered and thanks for all the nice things you've said!
Hello beautiful. The quilt the quilt. Not that you aren't a vision of loveliness MP but Hubba Hubba do I have space for that seasonal lovely. It right now is hanging on my stair well SW wall where I have always had in mind as a seasonal quilt hanging space with their beauty enhanced by a background of natural wood in my little cabin. Of course that is in my mind. And since I no longer quilt I would barter with my dear friend who is an amazing quilt maker to finish it up. If that doesn't work then second choice would be a sofa quilt by the wood stove and potentially the third and last option would be as a quilt hanging on the front of my closet in the master bedroom. I was going to put in doors but this would be more fun.
Thank you for this awesome opportunity and much needed diversion!
I think it's gorgeous! I keep meaning to make a Christmas quilt and if you enter me in your drawing and I win I will be halfway towards my Christmas quilt. Happy first day of Fall!!!
I would like to be considered. Thanks for the offer! Phil
So happy to see so many of you interested. Time for entering ends tonight so jump in if you wish!
