Zoom-Zoom-Zoom!

That's how the days are going by. I can't seem to fit all I want into a day's time. I think it's the season when I should stop sleeping at night so I can get more done.

I've been transplanting seedlings to bigger pots. And transplanting more seedlings. And transplanting more . . . well, you get the picture.

These are Brussels sprouts waving hello to you.

I swear the seedlings multiply under the lights at night when no one is looking. When Papa Pea walks by he says, "Food! Look at all that good food!" I haven't told him that some of the little green guys are flowers. (Wo)man does not live by green peppers alone.

We got the final coat of paint on the living room ceiling yesterday. I just want to go on record and say that we will never repaint that ceiling. If it absolutely has to be done at some time in the future, I'll stand on the floor and aim a spray painter straight up. Arrrgh, what a great job to have done. Fortunately, we are both very happy with the way it looks. A very 1950s cottage-ish style.

We've had strong winds the last few days which are serving to dry out our area even more. This is not a good thing. A forest fire broke out near our daughter's place today, but luckily was contained and brought under control before sundown tonight. Living in such a densely forested area is scary when conditions get too dry. If you have any extra rain hanging around that you don't need, feel free to send it our way.

Still haven't received our shipment of the (fake) brick to finish the wood stove surround in the living room. We'll just have to keep patiently (yeah, right -- gnash, gnash) waiting for it to arrive.

I think I said this a few posts ago, but I hope to get our potatoes planted tomorrow. They are SPROUT-ing and really want to go in the ground. It will be good to have that job crossed off the list. By the end of tomorrow. Yes, it will be. Yessir.

So much work you've done to spruce up that home of yours! We had a grass fire north of us today too. We need rain!!! Hope you get your potatoes in before it comes though :-)

It's a good think the brick isn't in yet cause then you can spend your time in the garden until it gets delivered.

We've been having sunny hot weather for the last week so I don't have any rain to send you but I'll keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

We finally got a tiny tiny bit of rain last night. Despite NIGHTLY warnings not to burn, idiots still burn. We've had several wildfires in the area-luckily they have the fire spotter planes going full time now and they were caught early. WHEN will people ever learn??????

Glad you got your ceiling done. THings are looking up---haha!
I've got strawberries coming in the mail today to plant. Other than that, we're caught up.
And a question (in my novel), how on earth do you get your transplants so stocky. Between you and Erin, they look like something from Home Depot. Mine are so "leggy". I keep the lights low above them. I fertilize. What am I doing??

Wow, tired just reading this Mama Pea:) Yeah on the ceiling, boo on the fake stone lol. Brussel sprouts are one of my fave veggies, can't wait to see how they get on for you over the season.

I think the seedlings multiply so well because you have the green thumb! And congrats on completing your ceiling! That had to feel GREAT and, as time goes by, hope you feel that wonderful feeling every time you look 'up' and see your ceiling.

Freedom Acres - I'm not going to get my potatoes planted today if I don't step away from this desk! But I wanted to get caught up here before I went outside because I know I won't be back in before dinner needs to be made!

Sparkless - Yes, sometimes it's good to have decisions made for you! 'Course, I always could stay inside and clean the bathroom. Or not.

Sue - I always think it's a cwap shoot when starting seedlings inside. Some years they look so good, some years they just look spindly and yellow. :o( I usually have good luck with the brassicas . . . if I don't plant them too early and they get leggy before I can set them out.

P.S. You can write me a novel anytime.

judy - If I knew how to put a line through a word, I'd do it, too!

Stephanie - I've got my fingers crossed for the Brussels sprouts 'cause we love 'em, too.

Lisa - My "green thumb" wants a permanent plant starting area! I have now taken over my husband's SECOND work bench in the garage!

Little veggies looking good there, my brussel sprouts did not have any sprouts, just went straight to seed. Think I planted them too late here, but then this year weather has been very strange. But my brocolli did great, now it has gone to seed.

I can't believe how great your seedlings look! It ain't fair, I tell ya! I am doing the rain hokey-pokey in your direction. Hope it helps, as we have had more than our share of late. Your living room is going to be beeeeuuuutiful!

Tombstone Livestock - You need to move north to the Land of the Frozen! Broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts almost always grow well for us because we don't have the hot, hot weather. (Did I just bring a Hotter Than Hades curse down upon us for this summer?)

Susan - I thank you. My seedlings thank you. Getting the potato patch ready to plant today and, oh my, is it dry out there! Squeeze some of the rain out of your atmosphere and send it our way, please.

My potatoes are up 3 inches....get them in!
:-) I've been watering the garden with not a lot of rain here either. Deeper down it is wet, but with the little seedlings just too dry on top. Hoping you get lots done today!

Nancy - Thanks, Nancy, for your kind words! My plants are "spittin' dirt," too. What can we do to get some much needed rain?

dr momi - I had several varieties of lettuce fail to germinate and I'm thinking it's because of lack of moisture. I haven't started watering yet . . . but I may have to. Rats.

Brussels Sprouts, hmph! LOL... it's been pouring here for 3 days so I'll wish it your way asap!

Erin - Brussels sprouts cooked tender crisp with butter and salt and pepper . . . mmmm-mm! You'll love 'em! (Chicken Mama doesn't like them either but she will eat a couple.) You can't compare fresh, homegrown ones to frozen ones in the store or even "old" ones purchased fresh. They can be bitter and nasty that way.

Thank you for sending the moisture our way. We'll welcome it with open arms!
