Who Me?

Fiona of Rowangarth Farm gave me a very unexpected (and undeserved, I may add) award. She bestowed upon me The Versatile Blogger award, most likely because I ramble on (and on) all over the place thereby making me seem . . . uh, versatile? That's the only reason I can come up with for her choosing me. Thank you, Fiona, I do appreciate your kind words and thoughtfulness.

Now I'm to follow three rules:

Rule #1: Link back to the person who gave you the award. (That would be Fiona. If you haven't already, check out her blog. She's got lots going on in her busy, homestead/farm life, and she's a professional writer-person so her posts are always extremely well done.)

Rule #2: Share seven things that folks may not know about you. (I think I've blabbered everything there is to know already, but see below. I'll make something up.)

Rule #3: Name other bloggers you would like to see receive this award.

Seven things folks may not know about me:

1 - I hate my legs. When my daughter got married, she specifically requested I pick out a dress with a short skirt to show off my legs. (How weird is that?)

2 - When my husband and I met, we were both involved with someone else. But we knew within a week of meeting that we were going to be married. And we were, less than a year later.

3 - I was standing within five feet of a man when he committed suicide. I didn't know him so it wasn't as traumatic as it might sound. (But scary enough.)

4 - Getting pregnant was hard, but I felt absolutely wonderful every single day I was expecting. (I may not have phrased that just right. I had a hard time getting pregnant. Is that better?)

5 - I fantasize about living alone with my hubby in an inaccessible lighthouse for one whole year. (But I'm not sure there is such a thing as an inaccessible lighthouse anymore.)

6 - When we owned and operated a restaurant, we employed as many as twenty-three people during the tourist season. Many of them referred to me as "The Dragon Lady".

7 - If I had money to burn and accessibility to a really good plastic surgeon, I would get a face lift. (And maybe a couple of other things lifted at the same time.)

I don't think I can adequately explain how very much those of you I've met through blogging mean to me. So many of you are funny, interesting, knowledgeable, informative, kind and so supportive. And you all deserve bunches of awards. However, there is one person I admire for her grit, compassion, hard work ethic, loving nature, down-to-earth advice, wisdom and ability to keep going when the going gets tough. She's a single who's doing the homesteading thing a heckuva lot better than I ever could by myself. She's got a quirky sense of humor that always makes me smile and wonder, "Now why can't I write like that?"

So here's The Versatile Blogger award passed on to you, Susan. Go over to her blog, e-i-e-i-omg!, and you'll see what I mean.

Carolyn Renee- Thank you and for sure regarding Susan! I love and admire that gal a lot!

Sparkless - Aw gee, Sparkless. You make me blush. I really don't like getting attention or "awards" (I don't mean to sound ungrateful) because I don't like being in the limelight. But your kind words sure do make me feel good. :o}

Hi Mama Pea!
Congrats on your deserving award! Your writing is pretty 'versatile' and you certainly cover, in an interesting way, many different parts of what is going on in your life and lifestyle. We all either learn something from what you share and/or enjoy your humor!
Yes, Congratulations!

Oh, I just loved reading more about you. I enjoy you so much (even on the days I don't get a chance to comment). I'm off to check out your nomination....

Erin - Even though I'm not comfortable being "spotlighted" I am very proud being listed next to YOU.

In the restaurant I ran a pretty tight ship and didn't put up with sloughing off in any way. (Hey, you applied for work, so I expect you to work.) We employed many high school and college kids that I grew to be very fond of but like all kids, they needed boundaries and expectations set forth. The Dragon Lady did that. ;o}

Lisa - Stop, stop, stop! You're embarrassing me. But thank you SO much!

ThyHand - It is good to hear from people who read our blogs (even though commenting all the time is impossible), isn't it? Kind of like speaking to an audience that is hiding under their seats! ;o}

As always, your cryptic revelations leave us amazed and titillated! Dragon Lady? Vous? I am with you on the lighthouse (sans Papa Pea, as he's already spoken for ;o)) but I'm afraid of water, so it would have to be a cabin in the woods. Such an interesting life, and such an interesting woman. Congrats on the award. And, I have two things to say to you, Mama Pea: I have two things to say - ACK! and Thank you!

Maybe everyone is being too polite, but you *must* tell the awful story of being so near someone who committed suicide! Why don't I ever remember hearing this story? (I know, I know, I was at that age when I wasn't interested in my mama's life when it was told, most likely!)

I've gotta try to find some pictures from the wedding! There's one of you and Dad dancing that I love . . . which shows off your legs! I don't know WHY you hate your legs . . . maybe because you've always wanted them to be LONGER? Ha! You have GORGEOUS legs, tho: slim, tiny ankles . . . LOVELY!

And, honoring your deep-seated dislike for the limelight, have you noticed how good I've been about not telling people that it's your birthday tomorrow? OOPS! ;p

Susan - Dragon Lady because I was such a tyrant.

I could trade the lighthouse for the cabin in the woods without too much trouble.

Interesting woman? Nope, quite dull and boring.

I have two things to say to you: 1) ACK? Why?
2) You're welcome. :o}

Chicken Mama - Really? Write out the story of the suicide/being in the wrong place at the wrong time? Dunno . . . ??

Gorgeous legs? Poo-poo. Longer legs? Yes, yes!

And last but not least, YOU ARE EVIL AND MUST BE DESTROYED.

Erin - I know NUTHIN' about a birthday!

Kudos to you, MP! This is an earned award. I don't read your blog every single day but I do always go back and read any I have missed. Would hate to think I missed a good laugh (except on that cranky day you had)! Speaking of which, thanks for the good one today ... especially while reading #4. You sure know how to back yourself into a corner and then "somewhat" gracefully get back out. Well, maybe not so gracefully. Anyway, you deserve that award. And Happy (day before) Birthday to you!!! Hope you receive some nice bits of fabric for quilting.

Karen L. - Thank you for all your kind words and wishes. You're an appreciated reader!
