More Whining

Can you stand it? I'll make it quick.

Sweet Peas are my favorite flower. My Sweet Peas have put forth their first blooms. Yayyyy!

Something (some *&%#! little insect) is making lace out of the leaves and all the stems (yes, ALL the stems) are starting to turn brown and die. The insects seem to be working their way from the bottom of the plants up toward the top. Boo-hiss!

Yikes! I love sweet peas too, can't seem to grow them here, not enough time between cold and hot!

I agree with Erin. I have tried to grow a couple of times with no success. Your blooms sure are pretty.

This seems to be the Year of the Insect! I've been out battling one devilish bug after another. I get so much satisfaction out of tossing Japanese beetles into soapy water! Sweet Peas are such lovely flowers - have you seen any evidence of what dastardly bug is causing the chaos?

bummer. I hope they get their health back soon. Those flowers are beautiful.

Hey, Gals - Well, I definitely have a chomping insect (which I can't find) but I think the stems turning brown and drying up are from the heat. Sweet Peas like cool weather and they've just been baked out there this summer. Probably being weakened by the heat made them more vulnerable to the insects, too. Just wasn't a good year for Sweet Peas, that's all. If I'm lucky, maybe I'll still get some blooms I can bring in. I ADORE their aroma!

Damaris - Welcome and thanks for commenting!
