Would Like to Post More . . .

. . . but don't have the time.  I know you can all relate this time of year.

We still seem to be in the midst of two days of rain, one or two days of sunshine.  Temps are still cool (yes, I sound like a broken record), but when the soil is dry enough I take full advantage of garden work.

In the last couple of days I snapped some pics of our feathered friends.

Wet, wet, wet.  Rain falling but the birds don't seem to care.

Even in the rain, afternoon feeding time is a popular affair.

Several of the birds will come up to eat out of Papa Pea's hand.

Mama Duck giving her little ones a lesson in preening after getting soaking wet.  Being out in the rain was their choice.  They had a high and dry house to go into, but obviously it was more fun to splash in the wetness.

"Quack."

Actually, the Muscovy ducks don't quack.  Their method of communicating is more of a chirp/hiss/whistle.

Yesterday we had (hallelujah!) bright sunshine.  Here's Mama Duck (she's such a good mother) with her little brood resting in the shade.

More sun forecast for today . . . so I'm outta here!

Please send some sunshine this way. I need to plant seeds. Lots of them.

Enjoy your sunny days Mama Pea! I know how you feel and I've been able to post lately because it's been overcast and rainy, but once the sunshine comes back, sayonara lol... I LOVE the foul photos! ;) Your pond is really nice!

Have fun planting. I'm waiting on the rain to abate. Looks like I'll be cleaning inside today. I've got plants waiting to go in, but it won't stop raining.

Kristina - I know the feeling of needing to get those seeds in the ground. We've had sun the past two days (with rain coming again tomorrow and a chance of it for several more days) so I've 'bout worn myself to a nubbity-nub working in the garden yesterday and today. Sure feels good to be getting things done out there!

Rain - The ducks and geese really love the pond, too. So much fun to watch them diving and splashing around in it. I like when they play-chase each other. They look like motor boats.

Theresa Young - I don't know where you're located but so much of the country seems to be getting way more rain than usual this spring/early summer. I suppose we'll be complaining it's too, too dry in a month or so! Hope you get a reprieve and can get some of those plants in.

I can feel your pain. I did get much of the garden in on the few warmish slightly sunshiny days we've had, and then mostly rain, every day, so things are actually coming up. I'm at the point now of running out there when the rain slacks off to a gentle mist for a few minute and throwing seeds into the open spots that are left. Added short rows of beets, marigolds, zinnia and lettuces today. Four more small beds to go and it'll be all planted out. There is an end in sight in Northern Indiana!

We have two whole days of sun coming up, then rain or showers for a week! I am girding my loins for the grand coop-cleaning adventure this weekend, then it is all downhill. Right. :)

Love the ducklings! I am with you out the door. At our side of the map the goal is to take advantage of the mild yet dry weather we have now. One more day and I will have the last big barn cleaning project done. Feeling accomplished.

I had a nightmare of going back to work. The images of your feathered friends replaced my nightmare.
Thanks for helping me. And thanks for providing a great home for all your friends.

Karren - You should be due for some warm, garden growing weather! We had off and on drops falling yesterday, but I still worked in the garden.

Today we have sun (unexpected!) but a heavy dew which still is keeping everything out there super-wet. As soon as it dries though, I'm out there!

Susan - Well, you must admit after shoveling bird poop for a couple of hours, anything else doesn't seem so bad! ;o)

Goatldi - Envy you your gorgeous barn areas . . . but not so much, of course, when it comes to cleaning them. You SHOULD feel accomplished!

DDD - Funny how we feel differently about "work" away from home and "work" revolving around home, isn't it? What nice words you've shared with me today. Thank you!

Feels SOOOOOO much better knowing the rain is not just killing us here.....!

Mama Pea said...

melanie - But you've had those whacko temps, too . . . 80-90 degrees one day, down in the 30s the next. That would really mess with my body's thermostat!

Come July, do you think we'll be complaining about the lack of rain??

We are still getting rain every other day down here too! It has warmed considerably.

I will miss your daily posts, but understand completely! You do what you gotta do. Hope your weather cooperates with you more.

Glenda - Just got rained out (3 p.m. Sunday) but got quite a bit done beforehand. With your frequent rains and warm weather, your things must be growing like crazy!
