It just occurred to me that I don't think I ever posted pictures of the finished winter wall hanging I showed in progress.
Yes, I did finish it and even found enough suitable fabric out of which to make the binding, but it was a close one. Sometimes I think using only fabric out of my stash is not such a wise idea. But unwise ideas have never stopped me before, so I'm already well into my next full-size (king-sized) quilt using only already-have fabric. It is a scrap quilt though (very scrappy) so if I can find a piece big enough for the backing (I have nothing against pieced backs), I'll be able to do it.
But back to the kitchen wall hanging.
It's very difficult for me and my little point-and-shoot camera to get a photo of the quilting I did on this piece.
I hope you can see it a bit better here.
Annnd . . . as it is mounted on the kitchen wall. "January Wreath" that didn't make it up until sometime in February. But with our slow, slow-to-come spring up here, it shouldn't be out of place for a while yet.

Bright and cheery - and the quilting is fabulous. Just perfect for pre-spring.
Thanks, JoAnn! You are very kind. (At least I'll definitely be ready NEXT year when I take the Christmas decorations down!) :o]
Just beautiful! And if I haven't said it before, I love your house!
Very pretty & that stitching is impeccable!
Very beautiful, and I LOVE the blue.....even though it reminds me of crisp, clear, winter (brrrrrr!) skies :)
Kristina - Thank you, thank you! Our house was built with much blood, sweat and tears. ( And a frozen rotator cuff on my right arm because I tore the original, horrible, terrible, awful construction down to the studs by myself!)
DFW - Oh, no-no-no-no, m'dear. Stitching is not impeccable. If you want to come over, I'll show you all my goofs! But thank you, sincerely.
Carolyn - YAY, I succeeded! I was shooting for crisp, clear, winter (brrrrr!) skies!! ;o]
Mama Pea,
I think you should keep your January Wreath up throughout the year :-) You've put a lot of work into this wreath, it shows!!!! I love it!
I hate to say it, but the way the weather is anymore, maybe you'll have quite a few more MONTHS of that hanging. It is drop-dead gorgeous. I so admire your talent!
Sandy - Aren't you sweet! Thank you. I just wish I liked the quilting of a piece as much as I like the piecing. (Huh?) Oh, I'm not complaining. It truly is the quilting that makes the quilt. If I stopped after the piecing was done, it wouldn't look like much!
Sue - I hate to admit it, but the wreath could easily stay up and look seasonal until way into April! (And we choose to live here why??) :o]
YOUR talent is nothing to sneeze at, m'dear. I could NEVER do what you do with a paint brush!
Great job!
Your wallhanging is amazing. I love the quilting. I can make the tiniest dollhouse things but the thought of all that beautiful hand quilting makes my head hurt. :-) The colors look so pretty on your kitchen wall.
De - Thank you! And I look at all the itsy bitsy miniatures you do . . . and MY head hurts!! Isn't it funny our different talents!?
I love how the blue in your quilt goes with the pale yellow of your walls. I can see all the quilting you did on it and it's amazing!
Thank you, Sparkless! My husband did comment after seeing the piece hung on the wall that he didn't think it was going to look good against the yellow, but that it did!
It does look cheerful. Good job... and I love the pattern and detail of the quilting pattern...
I'm not a quilter-- a dream to finish just one, but so far nothing. So...this stitch detail, did you do all of it by hand? or is this machine.
Your kitchen is bright and fanciful-- so sweet!
Your wall hanging is gorgeous! Do you do your quilting by hand or machine?
I just love your kitchen! And the wall hanging is superb. Colors are gorgeous!
How do you quilt your pieces so beautifully?
Rhonda
Beautiful! Is that machine free-motion quilting or did you hand-quilt? Either way it is stunningly lovely!
P.S. I like the way you placed a little snowflake/star in each corner.
Patricia - Thank you! I did both hand quilting and machine quilting on this piece. Seeing the sun shining in the south kitchen windows frequently lately makes me realize how much I've missed it this very gray winter season. Sure does chirk thing up!
Thanks, Laurie. The five "feather" circles were done in hand quilting, and the rest done on my machine.
Leigh - I love how my kitchen turned out, too, and all the more so when the sun is streaming in! I'm pleased with the way the blues, white and golds came out on the wall hanging also. (Sometimes that doesn't always happen in a finished piece, does it?) :o]
odiie - The quilting of a piece is not my favorite part and, believe me, I do get frustrated when areas don't look as good as I think they should. Your words are encouraging!
Thanks, Lisa. Free-motion quilting (by machine) on everything except the five "feather" circles which I did by hand. You're only the second person who has seen this piece who has commented on the snowflake corner pieces. I fussy cut them and now that it's all put together think they add more to the quilt than I thought they would!
Wow! Did you do all that fancy quilt work by hand? It is downright beautiful! That should help perk things up. I know that spring is coming, just wish it would put some bounce in its bustle and move along!
Susan - Part hand quilting, part free-motion quilting on my machine. Thanks for the kind words. 90% chance of snow for us tomorrow. Does that sound like spring to you? Nah, me neither.
I don't know much about quilting beyond the utilitarian type my Mom and Grandma did, but I do recognize a beautiful work of art! It looks perfect on the wall.
gld - Thank you so much. You've made my day! Those wonderful, old utilitarian quilts were the start of it all.
Looks great no matter what month you hang it.
Tombstone Livestock - Aw, thank you, ma'am! My daughter, when she stopped in last night, told me she just realized the wall hanging was a wreath. So . . . maybe it would look okay displayed in any month!
As always, your handiwork is gorgeous!
