We're Kinda Wild and Crazy

Here's a visual of the raucous night life at our house these winter evenings.

Papa Pea is totally involved in reading, research and going through old files.

I'm immersed in yarns, needles, crochet hooks and back issues of quilting magazines that were thrown in a stack unread all last summer.

There's always an open fire in the wood stove.

Sometimes the radio is tuned to our Minnesota Public Radio station.  Occasionally a bottle of beer or glass of wine will be present, but the jaw cracking yawns never fail to start occurring around 8:30 p.m.  After that it's a struggle to remain upright for more than an hour or so.

Good thing we don't have neighbors close enough to be disturbed by the unbridled revelry, eh?

I can so relate. Our house it just as bad. What with different colored balls of yarn all over the coffee table and the Classic Radio station turned up the volume 3. Not to mention the old man snoring in his chair . I can only imagine what the neighbors must be thinking.

Michelle - Ain't it wonderful? Is there any place you'd rather be on a cold evening? I feel very sorry for people who need to leave home to be entertained or have a good time!

Sounds just like us. Although we don't have those frigid nights.

Sounds like the perfect winter evening to me. :)

I think you guys are PERFECT!
I'd LOVE to have you as neighbors!

Ditto what Sue said! Sounds like my typical winter evening (and morning).

Mama Pea,

I would prefer having neighbors like you and your husband. The quiet is something we totally enjoy. We're generally in our home and relaxing at the same time. Hubby maybe tying flies (for fishing), and I maybe playing with making a rag rug. Life is good!!!

Besides..........who would want a neighbor with loud music, roaring cars, and noisy critters??

It does sound like you folks are really bustin' out up there!! ;) We get way too few of those throughout the winter and really appreciate them when they come. Enjoy it! ('Cause spring will be rolling in a couple months, then all bets are off!!)

Settle down....you guys could have a heart attack or something! LOL! Just kidding....I agree with you completely about staying home and the gift of simple pleasures. It sounded like a great evening to me!

Early to bed, Early to rise! Gets stuff done... You crack me up. What a partier, sounds like me.

DFW - But you still have the early dusk and darkness so take advantage of it!

Mama Pea said...

Liegh - Yep, but never enough of them. Plus many nights we don't seem to start them early enough!

Sue - Nah, if you knew what we were really like, you wouldn't say that. (This blog is written by my nice twin . . . I'm REALLY the evil twin.)

Susan - If you knew how often I think of you all cozied up and knitting away at 4 a.m. . . . Ah, if I required only 4 hours sleep a night, I'd be right there with you!

Sandy - I think that's why our neighbors think we're okay . . . this place was a dump and a rental before we bought it and there was LOTS of loud music, roaring cars, drunken parties, etc., etc.!

Mark - Spring will be rolling in much, much too soon for me! (How can I love gardening so much and still love my down time in the winter??)

Sam I Am - I know. Sometimes we get so carried away, we don't get to bed until almost 10 o'clock. ;o)

Lisa - I'm also a very cheap date. Half a glass of wine and I'm totally irresponsible. ;o)

Whoa!!! You wild and crazy girl, you.
I've just figured out that winter is a time of rest despite the shoveling and wood hauling and barn chores, the rest of the time is spent indoors. It's good to take advantage of that before spring comes and we all get a little crazy.

odiie - We always think we are going to have so much "time off" in the winter, but add up the extra chores . . . as you stated . . . and it's never what we imagine it will be. Heck, just getting dressed to go outside takes time! Not like in the spring, summer and fall when you maybe put on a pair of chore boots but no extra clothing than what you have on!

That's what I plan to do the rest of the winter. I am down to only a few unfinished crochet projects (unless I come across more).

Kristina - If you're down to only a few unfinished projects, you're doing a lot better than I am! I look at all my unfinished projects . . . and then start a new one! :o)
