Hahahahaheeheehohohoho!

What can we do but laugh?  And enjoy a bit more time inside before the spring/summer busy season is upon us.

We've spent the last two days working in our basement coating the walls with a good sealer before building permanent shelves for storage.  The floor got painted, too, and now we're waiting for it to dry.

Last night, I decreed we were going to start working on next year's wood supply today because the wood pile was almost totally free of snow and the ground area was dried up enough.

But then . . .

This is what our driveway through the woods looked like this morning when I headed out to town around 9 a.m.  Snow was still coming down lightly.

You know how when you're driving on the highway in a heavy snowfall and you kinda lose the sense of just where you are on the road because you can't see the center line or shoulders?  I had the same feeling this morning trying to make sure I stayed smack-dab in the center of the driveway and avoided getting too close to either side.  But no fear, my trusty, little 1985, 4-wheel drive, Toyota Tercel and I made it with no problem.

However, my poor raised garden beds are covered with snow once again, and we won't be doing any wood working today.

Oh, well.  Ha-ha.  Hee-hee.  Ho-ho.

Laughter is the best medicine they say. Spring has never failed to show up so there is hope. I'm going to LN's soccer game today near the ocean and I'll be wearing carhartts and sitting on blankets wrapped in a blanket. Fun times!

Honestly? I don't know how you keep your sense of humor. And to think I cracked after a mere three inches. I feel inadequate.... :) I like Lisa's comment above. Spring DOES show up. Eventually.

Oh wow! It's the winter that just won't end for you this year isn't it? Here's hoping this is the last of the snow.

Mama Pea,

This too shall pass!!!!
Take a deep breath, laugh, and make a nice cup of hot chocolate :-)

Lisa - You're right. If we wait, it will come! Hope you took a thermos of hot beverage to LN's soccer game!

Susan - I just keep thinking it gives me more time to "gird my loins" for the crazy, mad, wild, busy season coming up. :o)

Sparkless - We have a good friend with a birthday on the 20th of April and she was just saying yesterday that there have been more snow storms on her birthday than she can remember. Ooof. I can hardly wait!

Linda - Nah, we're doing fine. After all, we did choose to live up here! (And actually we love it. Snow is better any day than the ice we grew up with in Illinois!)

Kristina - You can last 'cause you're already into real spring time! Enjoy the flowers and warm weather, my friend.

Sandy - I've never cared for hot chocolate (I know I'm weird) so if it's okay with you I'll have something a little stronger! Hot toddy maybe?

You're right, there's nothing to do but laugh! And I recognize that laugh---

"They're coming to take me away
ha ha hee hee ho ho
to the funny farm
where life is beautiful all the time...."

I imagine all that snow will do that to ya.

Oh, gosh, bless your heart. I do know how you feel. We need rain here in Oklahoma. Mother Nature keeps making promises and taking them back. Meanwhile we gardeners wonder if it's a sign of yet another drought for us. At least we live in modern times, where we can be comfortable in our homes even when the weather outside is bad.

In the meantime you and Papa Pea are certainly getting a lot of other things done. btw, we just got through sealing and painting our basement.... great minds think a like?! We haven't done the floor yet, that's still on the list.

Leigh - We all thought this last snow would melt immediately . . . ha! Didn't happen. Down to 20° overnight. Sun forecast for today but then tomorrow . . . "freezing mix!" WA-hoo!

Ilene Jones - Good point! I have actually been thinking of how the Native Americans who lived in this area before white men felt in this kind of winter. Can you imagine, at this time of year, how eager they were for the snow to be gone and spring to warm the earth?

Mama Pea said...

Lisa - Yes, but we're fearing we made a big mistake trying to get this "inside" job done while be couldn't be "outside." The odor of that special sealing paint is bad and we now realize it would have been better done when we could open up all doors and windows to fumigate better! (Sometimes ya can't win!)

If snow is the poor-man's fertilizer then you ought to have a bumper crop of everything this year!

Mama Pea said...

Jen - I'm thinking the soil will be in pretty good shape to accept the transplants and seeds this year . . . once the snow is gone and we get some warm weather, of course!
