Snow? What Snow?

The weather forecasters did it again. After warning for two days that we had a 90% chance of snow over night last night and a 100% chance of heavy snow today . . . they seem to have missed their mark. Again.

We woke to no snow this morning. High winds though and I kept thinking that if we had some snow with the winds, it might look something like an old-fashioned blizzard.

The temp has been waffling around 32-33 degrees all day. And we have had some light snow coming down for a few hours now but it melts as soon as it hits the ground.

Snow is sliding off roofs and icicles are dripping. I sure hope all this doesn't freeze and make an bad imitation of a huge ice skating rink for us to navigate on.

I suppose if the temperature drops, we could get some accumulation of snow yet, but for the time being, it's just very damp, windy, gray and bone-chilling cold out there. Nasty.

And drat and dang, my raised garden bed frames are starting to poke up through the snow we got a couple of days ago.

So don't be worried that the Peas are having to shovel their way out of the house to do chores. It'll be more like we'll be having to dig out our mud boots to slosh through the slush!

I don't know which is worse, too much snow or wet, muddy & cold. At least you all are snug and safe!

I had to shovel about an inch of slush out of our driveway this afternoon because the snow turned to rain as the temps rose and I was afraid it would all freeze solid over night!

I think the snow gods are really against you this year.

We weren't so fortunate! We've got about 9 inches on the ground already. Hubby started snowblowing this morning and through the morning as the temps warmed the snow was so full of water that it's too heavy for even the snowblower to handle :-( No snow plow has gone by yet at 4:30 in the afternoon and the only cars that we've seen on our road today was the Swan's man and the guy that got stuck that Hubby is out helping get unstuck right now :-( Gotta love winter in the country!!!

Leigh - Yep, it's on days like this that it feels very good not to HAVE to go anywhere. For that we are thankful.

dr momi - Apparently, not much!

Jen - Smart move shoveling that slush because I'd bet dollars to donuts that it would have been a frozen, rutted mess by tomorrow morning!

Jane - Gosh, ya think??

Freedom Acres - Isn't that wet, wet snow just the worst? Impossible to snowblow, shovel or plow. Like liquid cement!

Well you would think it was armageddon up there from watching the weather channel! They are staked out all over the seawall in Duluth doing their "lean into the wind" hurricane type reporting LOL.. hey our new local weather guy is from Duloot, that makes THREE we now have from MN!

We've been having rain and only rain at the moment. A bolt of lightening and thunder certainly caught our attention late this morning. Knocked out our internet connection for a short time. It was in the mid 60's today and is suppose to go in the 70's tomorrow. Sheesh, I sure am tired of spring/summer weather in winter. A bit scary, I think. Really hare to think what summer is going to be like.

judy - Thunder, lightening, snow, sleet, hail, tornados . . . take your pick. Some place in the country is getting each of these!

Erin - Hmmm, what's the attraction in Virginia Beach??

Karen L. - You're right, this warm/hot weather in some parts of the country is just not right for the last of February, first of March!

It's all a game of chance calling a weather forcast. We've been battling high winds and tornados in our area...I'd love to replace it with snow. Stay tucked insafe and warm

Mama Pea said...

Katidids - And you, please, stay safe from those tornadoes!

I'm disappointed for you! I had hoped somewhere, someone would get some snow! Perhaps you're relieved....

I swear, you are one of the only people I know that is bummed when a blizzard DOESN'T hit ya!

As for the weather forecasters, I think they make it seem as bad as possible so if it DOES get bad, then they can just say "Told Ya So" and if it DOESN'T get bad they say "We we lucky and missed it".

Poppy - I know it may seem ridiculous to some people, but we love the snow. (Why did we move to Minnesota??) And, yes, I was really disappointed to realize that today we weren't going to get our storm. Darn. Drat. Phewy!

CR - Boy, have you got those weather forecasters pegged! I think that's exactly how they operate!
