Quick Post . . .

There's evidence in our back yard that fall is moving in.

We've seen more pronounced fall colors out and about and after our temperature of 94 degrees (!) day before yesterday, I'm ready for autumn to arrive!

Look what else I stumbled upon this morning. Some of my volunteer cherry tomatoes are actually getting ripe! I really didn't think I would see it happen this year. Maybe that 94 degree day had something to do with it?

So you WILL get to enjoy a homegrown tomato this year, even if it is the size of a marble. That is a call for a celebration.

judy - Hold off on picking those green tomatoes until the threat of frost is close by! Ya never know how fast they could ripen on the vine (well, we can hope!) and they taste so much better vine ripened. :o]

Jane - Hey! You callin' my tomatoes puny? I'll show you how big my cherry tomatoes are (chuckle-snort-guffaw) if I can get one to fully ripen before one of those renegade chipmunks out there runs off with it. (Then we'll celebrate.) ;o}

Hey Hey!! Well at least something good came out of your heat wave!! Enjoy and try not to fight over them!

(if I were you, I'd sneak out there whilst PapaPea sleeps, then blame it on the chipmunks!!)

I feel the nip of fall in the air but only at night. We are still getting unusually hot weather during the day.
I can't wait to see what you do with your tomatoes.

Well, I'm sure happy to hear you got your tomatoes after all. Here I was , trying to figure out how I could SHIP a box full to you. Whew! Close call.

And smarty pants---I didn't mean I didn't like your Minnesota winters-heck, I've got em. Remember me-snowmobiling, skiing, sledding. Yeeha! Bring it on, winter!!!
(but wait a month--or two!)

94, yikes! Our weather is cooler than yours. I'm sure you're right about those tomatoes though.

I am guessing you're leaving a quick comment 'cause you're having a rip-roaring time - and I'm not talking polying. Your weather is a LOT warmer way up there! I think your cherry tomatoes are lovely! And you didn't have to plant them -- lucky you.

APG - You are a baaad girl. I'll do it! ;o}

Sparkless - Well, if the forecast for 30 degrees for tomorrow night comes to pass, I don't think we'll have much trouble getting rid of the four ripe ones!

Sue - I know you know what winter is all about, m'dear. (You live in MICHIGAN for heaven's sake!) Just giving you a hard time. I'm all with you for a looong fall though. We've still got so much to do in the decent weather.

Leigh - 94 one day and then frost a few nights later. Minnesota weather . . . ya gotta love it!

Susan - Yup, can't complain about ANY tomatoes we get this year!

(That last deleted post was from me -- accidentally posted from my hubby's google account!)

Glad you've got some tomatoes ripening. The weather is certainly whimsical, mid-80's today and down to the 50's by Wednesday. Are you seeing any of that smoke from the BWCA fire? Be sure to share some fall color photos!

Erin - We shall see how many I actually get to harvest! Temp for tonight is forecasted to be . . . 30!!

Jo - I've been wanting to do a post about the fires and smoke but with our company here, I've fallen off the blogwagon.

The smoke here is worse than we have EVER seen it in the 38 years we've lived here. Unfortunately, my visiting SIL suffers from asthma and is having a hard time with it.
