Painting's Done!

Got the color on the pantry walls today. It looks a little too "pinky" for my taste (so hard to choose a wall color from a paint chip!), but since very little of the walls will show when the cabinets are in, the shelves are up and filled and the two freezers are in the room, I'm not upset about it.

We also took the time today to finalize our needs for the tracks and brackets to mount the shelves on. Good thing this is a one-time expenditure as we may have to stop at the Credit Union for a small home loan before purchasing all of them.

Happy to report that neither of us suffered any pulled muscles or achy body parts from the painting yesterday (which was about twice as much as we did today) but we sure did feel pooped when we finished doing the walls this afternoon.

I ran out to the garden early this morning and picked a pound and a half of strawberries that we ate fresh during the day. There are lots more out there that I'll have to get tomorrow.

This is so cool! For someone that cooks as much as you do, it's a great investment both in time and $. Can't wait for the final pictures.

You are moving along and it will be done before you know it.
So what did you have for supper tonight?

Looking great! The color makes it quite warm looking. Of course, as you said, you will barely see it.

Lori - Yup, when you cook from scratch as much as I do, you need the storage space for all the peas, beans, legumes, different rices, grains, etc. Still a ways to go though. B, our carpenter lady, is building the U-shaped cabinets for one end and Papa Pea is building a good sized storage unit that goes to the right of the door as you walk in. I'll be doing all the poly-ing on both units.

Sparkless - Supper tonight? Black Bean Soup with Italian Sausage that I had in the freezer with radishes from the garden and sliced strawberries from the garden for dessert.

Jane - Thanks, we need all the encouragement we can get! (Geesh, I swear I could see NO pink in the paint chip sample. Arrrrgh.)

Judy - Well, ya know, our friend B suggested a green color and even though a pantry is supposed to be a cooler room, I just didn't want it to "feel" too cold when I walked in in the dead of winter. I mean with the door and all and on the north side of the house, it definitely will be a very cool room (as it should be), but I didn't want it to look cool. Does that make any sense at all?

LOVE seeing such progress...and look forward to seeing the next step. If I can stand the jealous fits at the thought that you are getting that many strawberries, that is! ;)

Hardware can add up fast--and some of it is so ridiculously over-priced for what it is. Hope you don't have to mortgage the farm!

Boy, does that ever look nice! There's nothing like a freshly painted room - especially a room that will be filled with shelves and shelves of lovely jars. Can't wait to see it all done!

Mm,straberries. I think color looks salmon. We did this in a bath area once-did not look like the soft pink I piked. This morning I opened the patio door to check the damage from the storm last night, tomatoes have to be re-tied,that's it,but as the baby [ 5 months ] and I looked out,2 robins where in a battle, another came to help, but one flew into a tree branch nearest us-I COMMENTED TO THE BABY AND WHISTLED TO THE ROBIN,HE NEARLY FLEW IN THE HOUSE--SO STRANGE.

You are right, the color will change a lot once the room is full of cabinets and goodies, you did well! Will you continue with the cabinets next or are you having to bounce to another project LOL? It's soooo nice to have one room at least "DONE"... you tell Papa Pea that :) (Hubby was a bouncer LOL)

Well that was fast! You will have the shelves up and lined in no time flat now! Aren't you getting excited? This is the fun part, watching it all come together!! Yeah for you's!!

Looks great, and its really coming along! It is HARD to choose paint from a little chip, I agree...but I think it will turn out. Like you said, if you really don't like it...its mostly covered up anyway. ;) Amazing how fast the hardware adds up. They should give out loans just for that purpose. :)

Dmarie - Next step will be the tile on the floor. Hope to get it done tomorrow.

Sue - I've always been one to make do with little so having to shell out all this money with the remodeling is really, really hard for me. Hubby assures me it's okay and that I should stop thinking about every little cent. (It's actually the dollars that bother me!)

Susan - I agree with you. Paint can work wonders. ('Cept when it's pink.)

judy - Talkin' to the birds now, huh? ;o}

Erin - I'm sincerely hoping to stick with the pantry until it's done. The kitchen comes next and I really need the shelves and storage space in the finished pantry to put all the kitchen stuff in when we tear into that.

APG - I'm not excited about it yet. I think I'll have to see the cabinets in and the shelves up before it hits me. I'm a very visual person so I need to actually SEE what it will look like.

Mama Tea - You said it! We bought hinges for the cabinet doors today. $30 just for hinges. Ugh.
