My Mess

Yesterday Erin over at Garden Now - Think Later did a post on some of the canning she's been doing of her garden produce. She commented that we all show pictures of the colorful jars of salsa or pickles or jams lined up but seldom do we take pictures to show the mess that we've made while creating these gems in jars that so attractively line our pantry shelves.

Erin wrote, "Post what's not in the photo! Yep, I want to see your garbage bowls, arms covered in pulp, goggles and gloves when peeling those hot peppers, juice spattered on the dog, walls, sink full of unwashed dishes, you know the drill!"

Well, since my efforts are currently being centered on our house finishing and remodeling this summer and the veggie gardens are being given a long overdue rest, I have nothing to show you of my canning or preserving messes.

But . . . I can show you what our to-be living room looks like right now in all of its (un)elegant glory.

So, Erin, how's that for qualifying as a mess worthy of not posting??

It looks like a mess with a LOT of promise! Can't wait to see the blog worthy finish one day. :)

I think it's so cool that you are able to do this with your (collective) own two hands! Not everybody can do that. Way cool!!

That's not a mess it's a construction zone. I have to watch Hoarders to motivate myself to get chucking things out cause the stuff is beginning to build up again in our small house. The piles are starting and they need to go.

Hahaha---even in the midst of a major remodel, it's swept up and neat. OMG---I love you. Seriously. I almost went insane during our remodel--but part of my "calming down" routine was to sweep up at night. Don said I was wasting my time, but just to have SOME ORDER in all that CHAOS was such a relief to me.
But yea, wouldn't it be nice to just be done with it.
Are you guys still speaking-LOL? If so, the remodel is a success so far!
:D

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry. Wow! That's more of a rebuilding than a remodeling. And Sue is right - it's a tidy mess! Could we expect anything else? Not.

At first glance I saw that chair and thought it was some part of a new fancy toilet. Must have been the whole in the seat. I mean, that would be some throne, would it not?

You simply have to make a mess in the name of progress! So I say "On with the mess making"!

You've got lots of progress there and it's really shaping up. I'm with Jane on that chair. Looked at first glance like an overgrown potty chair of some sort. :)

Patty - At this point, that finish looks to be a looooong way off still!

Lori - Thanks, but you can be sure we have (and will continue to do so) called on our good friend, B the carpenter lady, when we're smart enough to know we're in dangerous territory (mostly to ourselves!) or it will be more time/money-wise to get her expert help!

Sparkless - Boy, if you can stay on top of those piles (and who doesn't have them?), you're in good shape!

Sue - Yes, yes, yes! Muddle makes more muddle is my battle cry.

Are we still speaking? At the moment, but it got a little shakey yesterday for a while!

You and I should go beat up Erin (she who loves remodeling) just to get rid of our frustrations over HATING the process! (Run, Erin, run!)

Susan - The wise thing would be to laugh. The easy thing would be to cry. (Sniffle-sniffle.) I don't know if it's that I can't forget bad memories or what, but when someone chuckles and says (regarding a past "difficult" period), "Do ya remember when . . . ," I tend to clap my hands over my ears, and chant, "I don't wanna, I don't wanna, I don't wanna, lalalalala . . . !"

judy - From your crystal ball to the finished project!!

Jane - Yay, a potty chair with arm rests! You would have to have one big butt though. ;o}

APG - I found a place to stash the upholstered seat and back cushions (out of the grit and grime) for the chair but simply could not find another room to put the frame in!

I thought the same thing LOL - I thought wow you are really getting back to nature with a high - style privvy seat :)

I'm excited for your construction mess, this time next year you will be so happy moving around and making garden messes in your new space!

odiie and Erin - Thanks for the encouragement from both of you. I'm beginning to understand why I've blotted all of our other building/remodeling periods completely from my mind. :o\
