Pay It Forward Book Exchange

I am slow. I am sooo slow. I am terribly tardy and late. I should be taken out into the frozen wasteland of my field garden and whipped with dried and frozen pea vines.

Way back last August, Leigh at 5 Acres & a Dream offered a Pay It Forward book exchange to her readers.

And I was the lucky winner of this very informative and useful book on saving seeds. My responsibility, in turn, was to offer my own book giveaway to my readers.

Well, here I am five months later finally getting my act together and fulfilling my part of the deal.

I am offering the above book to you, dear readers. I just got this copy for the giveaway. It's entitled, "Hit By A Farm - How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Barn." Written by Catherine Friend, it's an informative, funny, poignant, emotional true story of Catherine and her partner Melissa as they struggled to learn how to mesh their individual desires of being a writer and a farmer respectively.

I had the pleasure of meeting Catherine and Melissa summer before last which has made this book all the more special to me. It's a book that I had trouble putting down and one that I think many of you would enjoy just as much.

So what to do? If you're interested in having your name put in the drawing for this book, just leave me a comment saying so. I'll draw a name out of a hat at 8 a.m. this coming Saturday morning (January 8th) and announce the winner that day.

Then the person who "wins" my offered book must in turn offer their own choice of book giveaway and "Pay It Forward" to someone else. As Leigh originally suggested in her giveaway, since most of us are homesteaders/gardeners, we might want to keep the books offered within that area of interest.

Anybody interested? I promise, it's a really good book!

P.S. Check out Catherine's blog "Farm Tales." You can find it here.

Don't put my name in that hat, I have that book and her subsequent one that is also FANTASTIC, called The Compassionate Carnivore. Whomever gets your book is in for a real treat, and by the way to any of your readers with kids, that 2nd book is absolutely appropriate to read aloud to the age 6 and above crowd, she has a fantastic way of explaining the humane meat issue without resorting to guilt, it's a must read, my kids were actually pointing out "good farm/bad farm" on our drive home to MN, kind of a modern day slug-bug game :)

Put my name in your hat, also. Sounds like a great read. What a fun idea of paying it forward, too. Don't be so hard on yourself, either, okay??? We all get sidetracked, and just have to take one thing at a time. Your book just had to wait its turn!!

Don't count me in, but this definitely looks like something I'd enjoy reading. I'll have to see if our library has it!
