We're Getting Snow!

The snow didn't start until early this morning (despite me checking a couple of times during the night to encourage it), but when it started it came down at a pretty good clip.

Wreath on our back door.

Path into the woods.

Me on the driveway.

I love the woods when it is coated in new snow.

Wood stack in the back yard.

Shot off the front deck. Do you see the fencing at the far back of the picture? That's our 7 ft. high "invisible" fencing that protects our orchard and gardens from the deer. You truly cannot see it . . . except when every little wire is coated with snow as it is today!

Zoey says, "I want to go IN. I WANT TO GO IN NOW?"

It's currently 1 p.m. and the snow is still coming down although very lightly. We have about 6" which is on the low end of what was forecast. But we'll take it! My only fear is that the temperature is at 31.5 degrees. I'm trying not to even think about . . . you know . . . r-a-i-n. Ugh.

It looks so beautiful! I would love a foot or more of snow - enough to shut everything down so I can stay home and play!!!!

Yipppeee! So happy for you that the snow finally graced your doorstep AND that you managed to stay upright!

Hopefully it remains cold enough that it sticks around for Christmas and Erin!!!!

Poor Zoey. I have a 15 year old dog and I get that same look. Why be out in the cold when you have a comfy warm bed inside.

Susan - Then maybe you wouldn't have to travel for Christmas! (Could be worse!) :o)

Robin - You're welcome. Cold without snow is not fun, let alone hard on plants, trees, and water lines!

JJ - Our snow today is perfect for packing, too. Snow forts, snowmen, snow ball fights . . .

Lori - I am soooo happy to have this bunch . . . and right before Christmas.

APG - I told Erin I was going to be so embarrassed if they arrived and we had nothing but ice for them. Figured she'd have it down south at her folks' (how frustrating!) and none up here. Now I think we're gonna be okay!

They didn't get all that snow 'down south'? Geez from the news last night vs the Bears, you'd think they did.

Well, get the pond ready just in case. Bet they would enjoy skating!

APG - I knew I said that wrong the minute I sent my last reply. Duh. I meant to say they'd have SNOW down south of us as all the snow so far has been blanketing regions south of us. Then driving farther north you would expect MORE snow, but up until today it was looking pretty bleak. I'm still kinda shakey about our temps that are getting close to 32 . . . does that mean we'll get rain again. Ish.

Jane - That picture was of the third time she'd been out with one of us this morning. Clearly, she'd had enough and wanted to be inside. They do lose their tolerance for the cold weather when they get old, don't they? And the snow was balling up between her toes which irritates her, too. (Well, I suppose it would me also.)

Wasn't that nice of me to blow like the dickens from down south here so it would hit you up there? LOL

Enjoy!!

I love the look of freshly fallen snow! Hopefully it stays as snow for you!

Mama Pea said...

Freedom - It SURE was and we appreciate it!

Kaytee - It's almost 9:30 p.m. and our temp is 31.9. Geesh, I wish it would cool off. No rain though yet. Keeping our fingers crossed.

You know, I'd love to have a thick blanket of snow if I had everything I needed at home and didn't need to go anywhere except on snow shoes either. Fingers crossed the temps will stay low for you!

Wonderful, a white Christmas. Just beautiful!

How much snow did you end up getting? No rain, right? We ended up with a foot of new stuff from yesterday's storm. You should see the snow banks my honey made for the kids to build forts in. Soon we'll have tunnels, rooms, stairs and walkways.

Jen - The temps today have stayed around 27 degrees so I think we're safe (for the time being) of keeping this new snow.

Lorie - It truly is gorgeous outside. Lots of snow coating branches of trees and such.

odiie - We only ended up with 6-8" but I'm happy to get that. And, thankfully, NO rain!
