Further Family Adventures

Holy moly, this group is exhausting me! Go, go, go, always something going on. (We're having a wonderful time.) Lots of pictures here which are probably boring to most of you, but we've got to keep the rest of the clan that didn't make the trip updated.

The three look-a-likes. K, her daughter L, and Chicken Mama. C took us out to a lovely dinner a couple of nights ago and I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of her on that night. She's our tall, willowy fashionista and looked elegant.

I can't even remember what day this was. C and I stayed home to hold down the fort while the rest of the crew went fishing. Above are Chicken Mama and K sorting things out upon their arrival back home.

The tired, dirty, sunburned and slightly worse for wear fishing group at the end of the day. A great time was had by all.

Yesterday was wood working day out at Chicken Mama's. C was in charge of enjoying the view from the deck up at the house. K (above) and I were the main stackers in the wood shed.

We had to occasionally call in a tall guy to get the topmost pieces in place. Above I had just suggested Chicken Mama go give B a big hug for all his help. They mutually decided they were both too sweaty and stinky for an honest-to-goodness hug, thank you very much.

Chicken Mama was removing screws and L was collecting them in an empty tin can. (I'm not sure what the goggles were for but she wore them most of the day.)

Hubby and B making a real dent in the pile.

Kind of an action shot at lunch. Hubby and B already into chowing down, me grabbing a stool on which to park my weary butt, and I'm not sure what K was doing.

A much needed afternoon water break. We lucked out with the weather. It was cooler than the day before but still plenty warm.

I think K and I must have each moved about 2,000 pounds of wood. At least. Maybe more. Maybe a lot more.

Chicken Mama insisted on a picture of her work force after four chain saws had gone dull, and we called it a day. We got about 6 cords of wood cut, and stacked under cover. Great day.

I'm exhausted and I'm just reading it! What a hardworking group - and always smiling!

Does anything make you feel more warm and comfortable that a big old stack of cut wood. It is like money in the bank.

Makes me all fuzzy inside seeing you all working hard to help Chicken Mama get so much of that stockpile off her mind, I know she is juggling so much! Great photos and looks like a fun time.

Hardworking group indeed!!! I love the look of a full woodshed. Anyone want to work on ours this weekend? That's our holiday weekend project! It's all worth is when it's cold and nasty outside and toasty warm inside.
Good job family!

Susan - But ya know, doing hard work like this just doesn't seem that way with a willing, cheerful group. Makes me think one should NEVER even attempt big jobs alone! [I know that's living in fantasy land though. Sometimes we just gotta put on our big girl panties and do it. ;o)]

jane - Haha! Funny you should say "It is like money in the bank." My hubby says that ALL the time. 'Cept he says, "Having a full wood shed is better than money in the bank."

Apple Pie Gal - Hey, we don't fool around up here in da nort' woods!

Erin - The hard workers tried to change their plane reservations so they could stay another day (we figured we could totally finish Chicken Mama's wood in one more day) but the cost was prohibitive so other measures will have to be taken to finish it up.

Judy - A traveling wood working group might be kinda fun! Doing so would sure enable us to see different, interesting parts of the country and good blogger friends, too! (You'd have to feed us though which might be a serious drawback!)

Marty - We sure missed you!
