One Full, One Not So Full

Hooray! Before lunch time today we topped off the small wood shed and declared it FULL!

We had to leave just that little space on the right in order to access the kindling area and have room to stand to split more kindling. This is definitely the earliest in the year that we've had the wood shed full.

Now to work on the bigger shed.

Oh, ya. Lots of room in which to stack wood here! The wood left over from last year takes up a little under 1/3 of the total area.

It took us about a week to fill the small shed. And it was still one half full when we started. So I'm expecting it will be about two weeks to fill this one if we stick to our daily schedule.

Good thing we've got an early start on the spring season this year.

Wow you got alot done today! I did too, once I pulled myself away from the computer this morning! Now I'm exhausted and sore but I guess I bring it on myself - I could be like some parents and just drink beer all day Sunday and play video games and watch TV, lol, are there really people like that?!

Hey, Erin - Yeah, Sunday is the day of rest, right? Pshaw and horse feathers. And, yes, there are parents as you described, but I wouldn't want to be one of them. Although . . . a Sunday spent reading all day and not having to cook at all . . . hmmmmm.

Hi, Mart - It had BETTER be full by the time you get here! Otherwise, we'll be really behind schedule!

it will be good getting that job done before the hot and buggy days of summer. Good luck completing the rest of the project.

You two have the neatest (cleanest) woodsheds of anyone I know.

And you could both still work me "under the table"! You'd better watch out, 'cause, one of these years, I'm gonna start telling everyone how old you are just to illustrate how much you do and how you haven't slowed down one iota in the last 40 years!

Hi, Ruthie - Our weather is so nice so early this year that we can hardly believe it! Usually we don't start wood work until the last of April or early May. We're feeling pretty smug about getting it done (cross your fingers!) so early this year.

Hey, Chickie Mama - Well, thanks for the compliment on the wood sheds and for thinking your ol' parents still have a few muscles and a bit of energy left. What I'm having trouble dealing with is the fact that we will have been married FORTY SEVEN years this summer!! I still feel like I'm in my 30s so how in the world can that be????
