I Like Snowmen

Roy taught elementary school grades for most of his forty-plus year teaching career. In his third grade classroom, there was a good-sized blank wall between two windows, and I made several seasonal quilted wall hangings to fit in the space. It was amazing how much color, warmth and interest they added to the room.

The year he announced his impending retirement, the other teachers teased him saying, "You ARE leaving all your quilts for the rest of us to share, right?”

This one is 3' x 5' and we hung it during the coldest part of the winter each year. I think it's probably my favorite of all of them I made for his classroom. I've always had a thing for snowmen.

Roy the Quilt Snowman looks a lot happier than Roy the Human Snowman in the woods!

Ruthie - Actually, the "human" snowman had snow pelting him in the face . . . hence, the scowl. (Either that or he was coming at me to break my camera 'cause he didn't want his picture taken.) :o)
