Everybody got your seeds ordered and ready to go for this coming gardening season? I'm betting some of you have even started the early seeds indoors already. Still a wee bit too early for that for me, but I have been thinking about the garden and, because of that, I'm offering two sets of quilted, garden themed potholders as a giveaway.
Above you can see the fronts of the two sets.
These are the reverse sides.
Set #1 is on the top of both pictures. Set #2 is on the bottom.
Set #1 fabric is primarily a plethora of peas with a "kitchen-y" red gingham check.
Set #2 shows the podded peas again along with multi-colored sweet peppers.
The back of Set #1 displays colorful seed packets. Set #2 backing fabric is a hillside farm scene with lots of happy moo-cows grazing on green grass.
If you'd like me to put your name in the hat for a chance to win one of these two sets of potholders, please let me know by commenting on this post and also indicate which set you would prefer.
I'll close entries this coming Thursday night, March 9th, at 9 p.m. and announce the two winners on Friday.
Good luck to you and . . . think spring!
Oh boy, I have to choose? Eek. I love them both. I would have to say Set #1.
ReplyDeleteKristina - Got it!
ReplyDeleteConsidering the crazy weather here in MN, I fear spring was yesterday at 65 degrees with accompanying thunderstorm. :)
ReplyDeleteI can not choose. I would be deliriously happy with either set of potholders.
Vicki - I'm with you on the crazy Minnesota weather! Geesh.
DeleteI am deliriously happy to put your name in the hat! ;o)
You know me - I'm Mama Pea Potholder Crazy! Both are my favorites! :)
ReplyDeleteSusan - Did you just say I'm a crazy potholder maker? Oh wait, I read that wrong. (But I am and we both know it.) You're in!!
DeleteLove both of them you talented girl! And yes, I have zinnia, basil, and 3 kinds of tomato seedlings growing in my southern facing kitchen bay window!
ReplyDeleteAngela - Thank you, thank you. I always start my zinnias waaaay too early. (You'd think I'd learn.) Then they get stunted because they get too big and leggy inside but don't do well outside 'cause it's not warm enough yet. (Yeah, you'd think I'd learn.) :o/
DeleteOur house is too cold (especially now that we've run out of firewood!) to successfully start seeds, so I have awhile to wait. But I would love set #2 – the COWS!
ReplyDeleteMichelle - With all you gals who raise sheep, I really should look for some fabric with sheep! In the meantime, you're in the hat for the cows!
DeleteCan I have both? :) If I had to choose...moo-cows! Funny, when my pugs were alive, they had a cow plush toy whose name was Moo-Cow lol...I can't start any of my gazillion seeds until April! And I'm wondering if I even have enough shelf space for all the seedlings I want to plant! I may have to start them all in the containers in May and bring them in at night until the frosts are all gone.
ReplyDeleteRain - I've never had any luck starting my seedlings in a window with just natural light. I use full-spectrum fluorescent lights rigged over a table -- until last year when we purchased a metal rack unit specifically to use as a seed starting area. The fluorescent lights can be hung underneath each shelf.
DeleteI've put your name in the hat for the moo cow potholders!
Love the fabric for both & would love a set. No seeds started for me this year but I do plan on getting some asparagus crowns in their planters .... hopefully this weekend.
ReplyDeleteDFW - You're entered in the drawing!
DeleteWe planted our asparagus year before last so this will be the first year we'll (hopefully!) get a good crop.
Set number 2 is awesome.I love my Mama Pea potholders and what great timing as mine now has a burned-up corner (It was my fault this time). I put spinach, chard, peas and lettuce in one of the greenhouse beds but haven't started any to transplant yet.
ReplyDeleteRuth - Oh, to have a greenhouse to plant in!
DeleteYour name is in the hat!
#2 please. Nothing in the ground that wasn't there last Fall. Too wet still it would drown. Or wash down stream to the mighty Sacramento River.
ReplyDeleteGoatldi - Rain, rain, go away! Name's in the hat.
DeleteYou did it Mama Pea! We have sun until next week when the R word makes a return from performance. Greetings from sunny with clouds Northern California appearing in a county near you for a short running engagement.
DeleteGoatldi - You're welcome! :o] Sounds as though we have the same forecast here as yours. It's mighty chilly here today, but we have beautiful, clean, sunshiny skies . . . wahoo!
DeleteIf you are able to post internationally l would love to be included. I am in the middle of England and have sewn, peppers, tomatoes, leeks, sweet peas and chillies. I use a folded tea towel as a pot holder.
ReplyDeleteAlcea Rosea - Folded tea towel as a pot holder?! You NEED some potholders!
DeleteI love them both. I started peppers and 2 cucumber(wanted early ones). I also started working 2 days a week at a garden center in trade for things I need this year.
ReplyDeleteSue
Sue - Working at a garden center? Ooooh, sounds delightful. But could be expensive (above and beyond my work hours) for me!
DeleteLove them both! If I had to choose, I would choose the peppers/cows Set #2. You have so much talent!!
ReplyDeleteJD - Thank you! Wish I could find more of the "cow" fabric. I've used it all up!
DeleteI like #2 best, I can't seem to grow peppers but I love them. I do have onion seeds planted tho.
ReplyDeleteRosy Lebow - Don't know where you're located, but I couldn't grow peppers here if I didn't keep them under a cold frame. We don't have enough warmth both day and night. :o(
DeleteLove them both but putting in my bid for #2. Haven't started anything inside but I have done some winter sowing. Also hoping to put out some peas next week if we don't get too much snow this weekend.
ReplyDeleteMary - Back in Illinois folks tried to get their peas in by St. Patrick's Day. Up here in Minnesota, that would be a futile endeavor!!
Deletei WOULD LOVE EITHER SET. THEY ARE WONDERFUL.
ReplyDeletefivegirls - Your name is in the hat! And thank you.
DeleteI can't choose between your lovely potholders! I love both sets, but to be fair, I'll choose #1. THANK YOU, you sweet woman! It's butt-ugly, crappy weather here. If it's not raining, we're covered in fog, fog lifts and we get some snow. Ugh, my poor garden needs attention. I shouldn't complain considering what others are having to deal with. Thank you for offering these two beautiful sets of potholders - I'd be honored to own either set.
ReplyDeleteBobbie - I sure got a chuckle out of your description of the weather! We all have to remember it's March . . . the usually not-nice-weather month! ;o}
DeleteLiving in Minnesota, I know what you mean about starting any seed planting. I do enjoy your blog and look forward to each post. I like both of the sets of pot holders but if I had to choose, I would pick the top set. My grandma (long gone to the other side) used to make these for me and I used them until they got too burned or tattered to be safe to use. These made me think of her today. Thank you for the opportunity. Ranee
ReplyDeleteRanee - How sweet to think of your grandmother! I'm sure she would be happy to know you used yours to make all kinds of wonderful meals. I want mine to be used, too.
DeleteNow that we've gotten moved to our little "farm" I hope to unpack and uncover my sewing machine. The pot holders you made are an inspiration. I like set #2. Always partial to moo cows. I've got seeds started indoors. Thought that we'd seen our last frost but more predicted this weekend. Can't wait to get seeds in the ground. Thanks for the contest.
ReplyDeletePaula - You're welcome and you name is in the running! I love making the potholders because I get to try out a bunch of different ones of the old-fashioned blocks . . . and they don't take a month (!) to finish!!
