Yes, they are pretty wild with color . . . dark green, brown, orange and even some mauve and white thrown in.
But since I do wear a lot of brown and orange, I'm pretty sure I'll find myself picking them out of my sock drawer often.
I've already got another sock (new, different yarn) cast on my needles. Other than turning the heel on a sock (when I have to pay attention and think), it's kind of mindless knitting that's handy to have available as I can pick it up and knit when visiting or passing time profitably while I'm sitting for a few minutes.
I'd wear 'em! Ok, so maybe not to the 'day job'. And maybe not to Church. But I'd definitely wear 'em for date night. And any sort of mostly casual thing. (I do suspect though, that De would 'draw the line' if tried to wear them in the summer with sandals.) Love the colors!

DeleteLove them! I need to make more socks. I jumped on the sock band wagon about 1995 or so. I was fortunate to become friends with Sandy Sitzman the Queen of the Twisted Sisters (Sweater and Sock book fame) But alas life took me on a different path. Right now I am hooked on weaving scarves and knitting fingerless mitts. Perhaps next project.

DeleteThese are amazing - I would love them on my feet, especially at the moment when feeding the animals early doors warrants something cosy and warm. I am in awe - mindless for you but I would love to be able to turn my hand to this one day.
ReplyDeleteTracy - I promise you you could learn how. Lots of straight knitting stitches round and round and round. I thought they would be exceedingly hard, but they're not. I promise.
DeleteMany, many years ago, my sweet MIL taught me how to turn a heel. Made many a pair of socks for the hunters in the family. And yes, the rest of the sock is easy to pick up and carry with you. Love the colors.

DeleteAu contraire~ there is no such thing as "just" handknit socks! I love the colors on these - I'd wear them in a hot-second! I've knit three pair, but two of them walked out the door before I got a picture!

DeleteI knit plain socks for myself, but of late I have had an urge for some splendidly colourful socks as well.
ReplyDeleteAs a follow on to your recent post about the quilted shower curtain you made......you have planted a huge great seed of a plan in my head, and that is to make some winter curtains for next year, using the quilting method to make them, which should save having to line them. They will look chunky but should suit the rugged look of our 200 year old French cottage farm house. I shall look forward to spending glorious hours searching on the Internet for the appropriate fabrics!
Vera - Oh, yes! Quilted curtains would be so very practical for winter plus be one of a kind that would cause great amazement from anyone who saw them. Chunky they would not look, but rather unique and lovely. You go, girl!

DeleteAbout 14 years ago I found myself fortunate to be asked to go with Sandy Sitzman and some of the Twisted Sisters (who are ladies Sandy taught to spin) on one of their biannual spinning retreats on the Oregon coast. One of the gals had purchased a pair of clear plastic over the ankle rain boots to wear with her many hand knit socks. We all took bets as she left for Mass on Sunday morning if the local priest would comment non her rather colorful footwear. She pretty much rocked them.

I wish I could Knit properly, I would try making socks. Hubby just bought 2 large packs of socks from Sam's Club. I bet he wouldn't wear the wild colors of yarn I would pick out.....LOL!!!!
