End of our third week of our new eating plan. Weigh in first thing this morning. Results? Papa Pea lost another three pounds for a total loss in three weeks of nine pounds.
Okay, let's change the subject now.
Oh, all right, I'll tell you. Jane (the former personal trainer) said not to be surprised if I hit a plateau and didn't show a weight loss one of these weeks. So did I lose anything this past week?
Nope.
Did I gain any weight this past week?
No, thank heaven. Now that would have really been discouraging. And I would have been totally flummoxed as to what I did to cause that. (Oh, I know. It would have been because all of that snow shoveling and muscle gained. Yeah, right.) But I did not gain, so I'll be happy with that.
I'm not discouraged. I honestly do feel a little lighter. Don't know if "lighter" is the correct word; maybe less bulky? Why didn't it show up on the scale? Dunno. Maybe because I thought about food so much this past week. Psychologically you can screw yourself up, ya know.
Three weeks done, only one week to go. What will we decide to do at the end of the month trial? We aren't going to make any decisions until then.
So I've lost five pounds in three weeks. That's a good, steady, slow, sensible loss. Now I sure hope I can drop twenty pounds in this last week. :o)

ReplyDeleteYou have lost an impressive amount of weight. And this is where people get frustrated and give up. Remember that we women got the short stick as the ones who carry the babies. Therefore are bodies are programed to keep extra fat for emergency survival and not give it up very easy (even long after child bearing times). In tribal days the more fat the longer you could live to care for the child in lean times. Plus men have lots of that fat burning testosterone. The good news is once you hit your late 80's and 90's it becomes very hard to keep weight on. Or remember much ;)

ReplyDeleteAPG - The thing is Papa Pea doesn't even have as much weight to lose as I do to get to our ideal weight. PLUS, he was having such problems with his computer last night that he broke down and drank a BEER! Foul! I cry foul!
Ruth - I was feeling okay about zero weight loss this morning, but now as the day is progressing, I'm not feeling so big and brave. Whine-wimper-sigh.
2 Tramps - I'm glad I'm inspiring to you. Can you send some inspiration back this way to get me over this hump?
Jane - I know males always lose weight easier than females. Even on "The Biggest Loser" men will consistently lose 14-15 lbs. a week while a woman working just as hard will only go down 6-8 lbs.
All I can say is, boy, once I hit my late 80's and 90's, I'm stuffing in the potato chips and ice cream! If I can remember where they are.
APG - I've never desired to be a skinny bird. I have no desire to attract stupid men. ;o) (One intelligent man is more than enough for me.)
Sue - Well, I could try fasting all this coming week. But do you know how fast THAT weight loss would come back on? 'Course, that wouldn't matter 'cause a week of fasting and I'd be dead.
Seriously, thanks everyone for all the lovely encouragement. I'll be fine. As soon as I finish this frozen Snickers bar. JUST KIDDING!
I think you're doing fine! Don't laugh at the muscle thing, when I was my fittest and had been weight training for 3 years I weighed 132 - which happens to have been 16 lbs HEAVIER than I was before I started... but I sure did look and feel better!

ReplyDeleteYou are doing great! I seldom hit a plateau unless I am not following the plan correctly. But I know with many diets that happens. Just keep up keeping on! Guys lose easier than us ladies because they have more muscle mass, but you probably already knew that...

Leigh - I feel a smidge bit better merely because I don't feel so bloated. Energy wise I'm the same as before which is fine. I mean I have enough energy for whatever. The things is we always eat healthy, no junk food or pre-packaged gunk. I think our main problem has been too big of servings and eating between meals. And a drinky-poo before bed at night. I'm doing good emotionally except for wanting to see a loss more like hubby's. I'm impatient, but also stubborn and once I make my mind up to do something, I'll stick with it. And I do know I will feel even better when I'm not carrying around the equivalent of a backpack with rocks in it!
Linda - I know that but it still makes me mad that guys seem to be able to drop weight so much easier! (There are a lot of things that we females go through that guys have absolutely no awareness of!!)
I watched the movie called "Niagra" yesterday with Marilyn Monroe and she was no size 4. She had some serious curves going on! I think our society places way too much emphasis on skinny women. Besides, it's not good for our bones to be too skinny, so let's leave a little meat on 'em! You're doing great, keep up the good work, dear!

Have you ever seen the nude calendar picture of her? That's the only picture I ever saw where she looked skinny. I remember reading that she said she was at a point in her young life where she literally didn't have enough money to eat and that's why she posed for the shots. I think I recall her saying she got $20-some dollars for the session. ('Course, $20 was worth a LOT more back then!)

ReplyDelete5 pounds in 3 weeks is very hard to do, especially if one is post-menopausal. A-hem. Not that anyone in question here is of that age. That's not what I'm saying.

ReplyDeleteClaire - Good gawd, Woman, I've been post-menopausal since I was 45! So why can my two-year-older-than-me husband seemingly lose weight so easily? Don't men ever get post-menopausal. No. Never mind. You don't have to answer that. ;o)
