Wanna Read Something Delightful?

There is an author and illustrator who I adore.  Her name is Susan Branch, and she publishes a blog that is inspiring and beautiful and spreads large doses of joy and positivity.  If you care to check her out, click here and you will easily be transported there.

She's written and illustrated forty-some books including three autobiographical ones.

I'm now the proud owner of these three and will read all of them many times over not only for the story within but to feast my eyes on her illustrations.  All of her books are done in a personally unique style with photographs and her own amazing water color illustrations throughout.

These three books were not written in chronological order so don't let the publication dates throw you off should you seek them out.  If you do choose to read them, start with The Fairy Tale Girl, then Martha's Vineyard Isle of Dreams, ending with A Fine Romance - Falling in Love with the English Countryside.  Each book stands alone but her whole story comes together more completely by reading them in the above order.

Okay, off I go now to read her latest blog post.  Again.  To drink in that which gives me a (sometimes) needed shove toward looking on the beautiful, positive side of life.

Jenn - Hope you enjoy her writing and pictures as much as I do! Gray and damp here. We're supposed to get about 90% snow/rain/yuck this afternoon and overnight, but only a couple of lazy snowflakes falling so far. Hope your weather is better. Good day to be inside anyway.

I always love a good book recommendation! Thank you, Mama Pea?

linnellnickerson and Leigh - You're both very welcome and I think you'll really enjoy her writing. I've always held a special draw to the Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard area of our country (but have never visited there) so was enraptured with her writing about it. Now after reading her book about hiking through the UK, I'm ready to go there, too!

Ohhh! I love Susan Branch. I encountered her when I was looking for cook books way back. I haven't been reading her blog recently so thanks for the reminder and the book recommendations.

I have followed susan branch for years, she is a gifted artist and lives in a home with her hubs and lovely cat that is out of this world..I want to buy her things but they are just things, I do love her quotes and recipes tooooo but I just don't want to buy and buy and buy..She is nicer than most who pursue beauty and peace and joy, but I cannot see spending money to read her many quotes and she is a gifted painter and writer well before the time of others who try to emulate her..She is a big beacon in these trying times, good for you that you like her, keep up your blog it soothes my soul, it is lovely and peaceful something in short supply in this covid-19 outbreak, peace to you and love and joy..I live in Washington state where the virus is rampid, I pray and chant daily for a cure..keep smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous - Thank you for your nice words. As with any and all happenings in life, hard as they may be, keeping a positive attitude and trying to avoid negativity benefits all of us. It seems that all of a sudden we've been thrown into a very disruptive, upsetting, dangerous time. I'm hoping your situation in Washington takes a turn for the better soon. It's what we all hope for . . . for all of us having to navigate through this difficult time.

I love Susan BRansh and I have a few of her books but not those you mentioned. I will be looking at Thrift books for the 1st one you mentioned. Thank you. I didn't know she had a blog. I'll be looking for that too! Yes, we could all use a pick me up or many at this precarious time. Stay well.

Thank you for that recommendation! What a "picker-upper"! I loved her book list and the old movie list. I'm invigorated! I only wish I could draw like that! Stay well!

CHERI - Yes, eye-candy! Good way to describe her blog! She has a definite decorating talent. I've been looking around my environment trying to see ways I could make our home cozier. (Wish me luck.)

Sam I Am - I got those three autobiographical ones of her as used books very reasonably priced. She's very much a fan of old movies and old songs. Especially Frank Sinatra! I know I think you can't beat those old movies for pure enjoyment. And what a great time to enjoy some of them!!
