So Beautiful . . . If It Were December!

Well, we got the wind and snowfall, but not nearly as much as predicted.  No loss of power in the area that we've heard of.

It was a very wet, heavy snow, but the wind did manage to make a few drifts here and there.  Not much melting today even though the temp is slightly above freezing.  We've had two or three periods of more snow throughout the day.  Total amount right now?  Not much more than 6".

I snapped this picture of my raised garden beds on Thursday morning prior to the start of the snow.

Now they've once again disappeared under a white blanket.  I don't think we'll be lacking moisture in the soil this spring.

Looks as though we'll miss at least three more days of wood working.  We got in a couple of hours yesterday before the snow, but none today and probably none tomorrow or Sunday.  Daggitynabbit, a good third of the month is gone already which makes me think there's no way we can reach our goal of having all the wood done by the end of the month.

So be it.  We'll still give it a go, but you can't fight Mother Nature with her April showers . . . and snow.

That's quite a scene for mid-April!

Michelle - Yep! April snows are not uncommon here. I think the last one we had was a few years ago on April 1st and it was a real blizzard. Quite the April Fool's joke on all of us!

Ahh, yes, April. A fickle month. We had a bit of snow yesterday, nothing like yours. Thankfully it melted by today. I even did a bit of raking up spruce cones today when I got home from work. I am hoping for a good melt for you! -Jenn

Thanks, Jenn. It's still snowing (lightly) right now but the flakes seem to be melting as soon as they hit the shoveled off deck. The forecasters say the snow will be all over tomorrow so then . . . let the melting begin!

You will be on top of it. After all these years you know your land and what to expect.

So for now sit tight pull out the hand work , ice cream with a bit of adult beverage for toppings . And as used to be said “Party on dude!”

Such a beautiful wonderland!! Was going to say 'winter wonderland' but that somehow doesn't sound right for mid-April. And we are expecting severe thunderstorms and possible tornadic activity today due to our overly warm weather. Such a strange spring. Hope you are enjoying getting some handwork done.

Wow that's a lot! And I see the mumbai escorts spammed you to!

Goatldi - I like the way you think, girl!! ;o)

Lisa - Ooooh, I don't wish the tornado weather on you or anyone else, but I'll take this snowfall any day compared! Everyone around here is surprised that the snow didn't seem to melt one bit yesterday and now that we've had really cold (down into the 20s and teens) weather overnight, all that we didn't plow or shovel is frozen concrete. What's going on here?

Nancy - Yepper, it's a lot of The Return of Winter in Mid-April! And it looks like it's trying to stay for a while. Drat.

Aren't those "escort" hacks just the irritatingly dumbest?

That's got to be a downer to see all the snow. Mother nature is always throwing a curve into our plans. Keep up the good attitude!

In "these parts," they say, that spring snow, is the poor man's manure.

Do "they say" that, in your neck of the woods?????

✨🌱✨

Lynne - It IS kinda depressing to see everything totally blanketed with white again. And it's not melting!!! On the other hand, I did have time today to do a lot of knitting 'cause I couldn't be out on the wood pile! :o}

wisps of words - In our neck of the woods, the saying goes, "Snow is the poor man's fertilizer." Just a titch different, but means the same thing!

I'm so glad you didn't lose power...that would be the pits. i'm used to being behind anymore...but when I was younger and was able to do everything i got very sick so i just plod along now and although i still set goals for the day, week, years etc. i prioritize so if i run out of steam at least i have dinner and clean clothes! LOL! Stay warm!

Mama Pea said...

Sam I Am - Very smart woman you are for making sure you have dinner and clean clothes. ;o) That in itself makes it easier to start a new day!

I wondered how much snow was coming your way. Golly. We are back to cold and a ton of rain.

Mama Pea said...

Kristina - I think we're gonna need rain to wash this snow away. Even though we had a sunny day today, not a lot melted. :o(

So glad it wasn't as bad as predicted. It doesn't matter where in the world one lives, weather always is the setback to plans!

Mama Pea said...

Leigh - So, so true! The trick is learning to live with the weather and not let it be a setback! (Easier said than done, isn't it?)

April 15th

I copy below, what I just commented in my blog comments, to answer your question, there...
...................................................

DEAR MAMA PEA:

-chuckle- "What did I do, during a do nothing day?"

Well, I never got dressed. Stayed in my 'nighty' and bathrobe, all day. We had a simple breakfast (yogurt/bagel) which took no cooking... I suggested a do-nothing day... So he went out in his garage work shop. To do things out there, which he wanted to do. Because he can NOT do a do nothing day. >,-)

Leisurely read interesting parts of the weekend Wall Street Journal. Where I get reading suggestions and find cool articles. Looked at some baseball maybe... Took lovely nap.... Had left overs for dinner. Then usual quiet evening...

That's it, as far as I can remember....

Butttttt, I am "back on the stick" today!!!!! ,-) We changed the bed, I am washing the sheets, we went out for errands, paid our Income Taxes, I cleaned the bathroom... And it's only 2:30PM. :-))))

Ahemmmmmm.... Tell me..... When are you going to have one of these do-nothing days?!?!?!?!?

Mama Pea said...

wisps of words - Now that you've explained how to do it . . . tomorrow?? ;o]

Our snow from that storm has melted and left green grass behind.
