Smoked Birds and Finished Socks

Or could it be Finished Birds and Smoked Socks?  (What was the old joke way back in the '60s about smoking your socks?  Probably best I can't remember it.)

But I digress.  I finished these socks a day or so ago and wore them for the first time today.

"For heaven's sake, get your feet off the desk!"

I think I've finally got it figured out as to what yarn I prefer for socks, the size needles to use, the best pattern and measurements that fit my tootsies to a "T."

Good Neighbor D popped in early this morning to deliver the duck and goose he smoked for us.  Goose (good ol' Curly) is in the foreground with the chunky Muscovy in the back.

We're going to taste test them tomorrow.  Well, probably just one.  I think we'll try the goose first.

Beautiful socks! Toasty and warm. This is sooooo much better than summer, isn't it?
We FINALLY got good snow-will be testing out the old skis this morning.
Enjoy your smoked friends, =I'm sure they will be divine.

Dawn - That's what keeps life interesting, doesn't it? Always something new to try, do, make, create, learn, experience!

Sue - Oh, I'm envious of your first-of-the-year ski jaunt. Have fun!!

Wow, what a nice neighbor! I have a smoker that is still (sob, sniff) in pristine condition. All my plans of smoking a chicken this summer went up in...smoke. Couldn't help myself. I love the color of those socks - may I ask what yarn you used?

Susan - Don't fret about your smoker not having learned how to smoke yet. It will be there when you get the time to learn that new skill.

The yarn used in my latest sock project is Schachenmayr Regia 4-fadig Color (say that three times fast), the color is 7388, Ocean. It's super-soft and yet retains it's shape. Good stuff. I order a lot of my yarn from yarn.com (WEBS) and that's where I got this.

Love the socks & can't wait to hear how the birds taste. Will you freeze one?

Delicious looking, both birds and socks! I have never knitted socks...should give that a try this winter.

DFW - Goose all eaten up . . . very tender and flavorful. Just a hint of smoking came through. Tasted a lot like beef, we thought. Chunky Muscovy frozen.

Glenda - I'm sure you'd be a success at knitting socks. Only part where I have to pay close attention is at the heel. Otherwise, if you can count, you can knit socks!!

Those are some pretty socks! I can't do that, yet. If I lived close enough, I would pop in for some lessons.

Laurie - I'd LOVE to have you pop in for all the knitting lessons you needed!
