Only A Little Late . . .

In the days before the holidays, I've been spending time (here and there) making a new quilted table runner for our coffee table in the living room.

Yesterday was December 28th, and I finished it.  Just a little bit late.

Now that I see it on the coffee table, I'm thinking it coulda/shoulda been made a little bit bigger.  (Who measured for it anyway?)

I cut the poinsettias from a piece of material that was given to me.

The sashing and border were made from scraps of coordinating fabric in my stash.

In the future, I'll probably use this particular runner in another spot where it will look better.  I guess that means it's back to the ol' drawing board to plan and make another holiday runner for this spot.

That's fine.  Gives me more time I must spend in my quilt room!

That's so neat! I've been thinking about learning to quilt and I guess something like this would be a good starter project?

hoosier girl - Definitely! A table runner or candle mat are often the projects taught in beginning quilters' classes. There are lots of good beginning quilting books out there, but if you have a quilting friend nearby or quilting shop in your area, I personally think it's much easier to learn with one-on-one instruction. Go for it!

Be it far from me to deter you from "must" getting in your sewing room but.... I think it looks lovely right where it is!!

I think it's perfect! That green fabric looks familiar.... but, that said, any reason at all to get you in the quilt room is a good reason!

Mama Pea,

Your poinsettia table runner looks really nice there on your coffee table. Stop being so hard on yourself!!!

FAF - No worry there. If you can imagine, I have PLENTY of wanna-do projects in my quilt room besides another holiday table runner!

Thanks for the encouragement though.

Susan - Perfect!!? Good gawd, I've never done anything perfectly in my life! (Thanks, pal.)

And, yes, you may just recognize the green fabric. ;o}

I like the size of it as it is.....but being a bloggy pal, I guess I must insist that you get to your room!!! Now!!! And quilt, friend, quilt!
Happy New Years a tad early. I may not live until then so I wish it to you early.
(It's my "BAD" week and I'm eating everything I can't eat all year)
Ta ta for now.

It's wonderful and I think it looks great where it is but if you really need an excuse to get back in your quilt room then I guess it's much too short and you need to make another one to put on that table. You probably need to make a whole bunch of quilt things just to make sure one of them is perfect. (There you go, do you think that is excuse enough?)

Looks great right were it is.

Sue - Oh, I'm fearing for your digestive tract! (But doesn't it feel good going in?!) But who knows, maybe you're in such good shape now your body can handle all those "no-nos."

I am truly duly spending LOTS of time in January and February in my quilt room. Honest, I really am!

Lori - Thank you! I haven't bought any new fabric in ever so long because I really have been making a concentrated effort to use up my stash. (That should only take me 30 or 40 more years!)

Leigh - Flattery will get you anywhere! But thank you, thank you!

Sparkless - You're a good friend to tell me I neeeeed to get into my quilt room and let the creative juices flow! Thank you.

It looks great. You got farther then I have. I have 4 of the 5 squares done for my Christmas table runner. Maybe next year, LOL

You are an artist! It is beautiful no matter where you choose to use it.

Michelle - If mine hadn't been so simple, it still wouldn't be done! As for yours, look how good a start you have on it for next year!?

Mama Pea said...

gld - Thank you for such a compliment!

It looks great! I love the colors and it looks like it really belongs there on the coffee table.

Mark - How nice of you to say so! Your comment and those of others make me think it's found its permanent home. (At least during the holiday season!)
