A Picture to Brighten Your Day

Dressed for morning chores up here near the Arctic Circle.

Fetching little thing, aren't I?
(Hey, I could rob a bank in this outfit.
'Cept with all the padding
I couldn't run fast enough to get away.)

Can anybody rival this?
If so, I want to see picture proof.

Ha ha ha ha! That looks about like what I have to put on to go out. I'll have to have Daughter take a photo, ha ha ha!

I've been sporting the same gear, too. Man it's hard to move around! And I keep getting this strange urge to stick my tongue to a flag pole. :)

I wish I would have taken a photo of this mornings' getup. All I had was a tiny slit for my eyes. Winds--25mph with windchills minus 25. But --I NEEDED a walk. My whole face mask was iced over by the time we came in....but I got my walk!!
I think the neighbors (the ones NOT in Florida!) think we're a tad "off".
You look charming. A real Northerner!

I hear you! We have been hibernating as well here in the frozen central Minnesota area! I just bundle as well as I can, and have been living in my legging and thermals under any pants I wear.

We aren't near as cold here obviously, but cold enough. Wind chills around 29 degrees this morning. Too cold for my southern bones. Look at my post tomorrow for my hillbilly look. Compared to me you are a glamour girl!

Sparkless said...

Nope sorry we don't get that kind of cold here. You remind me of a little kid in a snow suit who can barely move.

Nancy po - I DID stay warm this morning! And only almost fell down on the ice once. That's what I call a successful venture out into the Frozen Tundra!

Mama Pea said...

JJ - Yes. But definitely one of the northern variety!

Mama Pea said...

Kristina - Looking forward to seeing you in all your downy splendor! ;o)

Mama Pea said...

hoosier girl - Hahahaha! I sorted did the tongue on flag pole trick yesterday when I grabbed the handle of the outer storm door to the deck . . . with wet hands. My reaction (which I said out loud) was, "Well, that was dumb." Duh, I GUESS so!

Mama Pea said...

Sue - Oh, I would have loved to have seen that picture. Don't cha just hate it when your face mask turns into a sodden, cold, drippy, half-frozen mess?

I should have labeled my picture, "I'm NOT trying to make a fashion statement!"

Mama Pea said...

Leah - Even the "southern" states are having colder than usual weather. Good thing we hardy folks in Minnie-soda know how to handle it, eh?

Mama Pea said...

DFW - I can hardly wait to see you and your outfit tomorrow. (Be sure to put on make-up!) ;o)

We definitely have a skewed sense of style if we call each other glamour girls in our winter workin' duds!

Mama Pea said...

Sparkless - That was about it. If I had fallen, I wouldn't have hurt myself because of all the padding, but I might not have been able to get up again . . . because of all the padding. :o)

Well, when I had my little farm in Iowa I looked a lot like that when I went to feed the animals. I had those big clunky farm boots though that made it heavy to lift your legs! LOL! Produced good thigh muscles though! :)
Stay warm.....it was only 2 here this morning in the "south" (north central AR) and no snow to go with it. Take care.

Today almost felt balmy reaching the 20s. Chickens even poked their beaks outside to enjoy the warm sunshine!

You are too funny, Stay warm.

Mama Pea said...

Sam I Am . . . - Hey, thanks for commenting! Good grief, our low overnight was -2 . . . and you were only four or five degrees higher?!! What's going on here?

Mama Pea said...

tpals - Yesterday we had sunshine (hardly recognized it) and hit a great big 19 degrees above! So I totally know what you mean about it feeling balmy!

Tombstone Livestock - Funny? Funny?! FUNNY??!! And here I was shooting for totally gorgeous. Sigh.

P.S. My first reply was plagued with fumble-fingeredness. :o(

Mama Pea,

I don't think you would make it out of the bank fast enough. However, you'll be nice and warm dressed like this. Do you have yourself a pair of YakTrax to help you walk on the ice while working on the property?
I love my YakTrax, I can use them on any pair of shoes or boots.

Leah said...

Yes we sure do! I suppose after living here my entire life I better know how to handle it! Or else they might kick me out!!!

Mama Pea said...

Sandy - Hubby has a pair of YakTrax (or something similar) but he quit wearing them because they were so difficult to put on. Usually we have so much snow that ice in the yard isn't a problem. Not so this year, darn. It probably would be wise and sensible for both of us to check some kind of "grippers" out. Thanks for the reminder.

Wellllll, South Carolina must now be considered the 'tropics' compared to Minnesota?! :) Where we are located in SC, the Appalachian mountain range shelters us from most of the bad weather coming down from the north, so we have pretty mild winters here. It's definitely a different way of livin' up your way! Stay warm!!!!

Oh my you look adorable! Reminds me of my kids when they were little and I would bundle them up to go outside, but they could barely move haha.

Since I don't have a full-length mirror (out of self-defense), I will have to try doing a top and bottom selfie. That should be interesting...They should design winter outfits with an orange flag that shoots up when we keel over and can't get up.

Mama Pea said...

Lisa - You're the only place "down south" that I've heard of that hasn't had an exceptionally cold winter. You may want to send up appreciation for that Appalachian mountain range!

Mama Pea said...

Stephanie - And don't cha know, I'm just like a little kid . . . every time I finally struggle into all my outdoor gear, I have an urge to make a potty stop. (TMI?)

Mama Pea said...

Susan - I love the visual you just created of the "tip up" orange flag! Darn good idea.

Kris said...

Hey Mama Pea - don't know if my 1/9 blog entry beats you, but sure bet I would have bounced if I'd fallen down. Tres Chic, n'est-ce pas? Gotta love this time of year. *whine*

Kris - Thanks for the comment and direction to your lovely ensemble! I think it's the ear protectors that won you the prize though. They really top off your outfit!
