Once A Long Time Ago . . .

Once a long time ago, I was going to learn how to make baskets.

Never happened.

I recently found three basket making books I purchased way back in the 1980s.  I never got around to using them, and now that I'm in my use-it-or-lose-it phase, I'd like to pass them along to someone who might enjoy looking through them . . . and perhaps even making a basket or two.

They're just thin paperback books so I'll put them all in a big envelope and mail them off to the winner.

Anybody interested?  If so, just state it in the comment section and I'll put your name in the hat.  (Hey, I should find a pretty little basket to put the entries in!)

This is Friday, the 7th, so I'll close entries on Sunday, the 9th, when I shut down my computer for the night.

Come on, now, you really must enter this giveaway.  You know you need another hobby to occupy your time!  (Snicker, snicker!)

The first basket I ever made was beautiful. We were friends w/a family that owned a Craft Store. Waay before the internet & they had beautiful Raphia & Reeds. I haven't tried since them (around 1980) to make a basket but would love to give it a shot.

Amanda Pope - I thought this might be a time of year when some people would be getting itchy fingers to make some baskets! Thanks for throwing your name in.

Throwing my name in too. I've made two baskets but neither looked the way they were supposed to. Maybe I could give it another shot if I get these basket-making books! Thanks, Mama Pea!

Mollie - Your baskets didn't look the way they were supposed to because you're just too creative! :o} I'll be glad to put your name in the drawing for these three books.

How fun. I almost signed up for a basket making class, but something kept me from attending that year. And then I ran into the woman at the Farmer's Market, but her hands needed surgery, so hence no more classes. I never did learn.

Kristina - I'm sure you could pick up this craft with no trouble. Thanks for entering!

Please do not throw my name into the hat - just wanted to say I think I own the first booklet you show here - that I've never made a basket from either! The 1980s must've been the year of basket-making as that's when I was interested too. I did take a class on making the egg basket and made around 20 of those or so back then.... never veered from the design.... just changed colors.... and that was WAY before I ever had chickens!!! Providential maybe, no?! hehehe Still have a few of those that I kept and decided they are way too nice to put any actual eggs in!! Thanks for taking me down memory lane this morning, in a good way!
