Update

Still sick but definitely getting better.

Felt like I had "turned the corner" last Friday
. . . and did way too much.
(Yeah, I know, dumber than a box of rocks.)
Not only set me back in my recovery,
but just about "kilt" me.

Have apparently cracked a rib or torn a muscle
during one of my coughing fits.
This makes my continued coughing
extremely painful.

You should see what I'll do to avoid sneezing.

Tough time sleeping (me on couch and hubby in bedroom)
because of coughing and finding a comfortable way to lie.

Papa Pea is still coughing but looks and feels much better.
He even finished a two-day job of pruning all the
fruit trees today.  (Whadda guy!)

I am going bonkers looking at all I need to be doing
outside, but also know I can't physically do it yet.

Have had unusually poor germination on my
seeds I've started inside this year.
Very frustrated over this.  One more thing
to add to my crankiness.

We're subsisting on canned and frozen food
from the pantry and lots of eggs.
I told hubby my Menu Planning App is on the fritz.
Also our taste buds have been out to lunch
. . . which is perhaps fortunate considering
the meals I've been managing to put
on the table.

But, hey, it could be a lot worse.
My biggest challenge is keeping a good outlook
and making sure I never, ever, EVER
catch something like this again!

Oh, Mama Pea. I'm so sorry to hear that you've had such a setback. I hope you take care of that rib thing. Get well soon to both of you. ... Kris

So glad you shared your miseries with us! At least you're feeling well enough to type.

Hope you feel better! I've had a chiropractic adjustment after really bad bronchitis, ribs were pulled off a bit. One adjustment and all better :)

I was thinking about you today---and here is a post. I guess that's somewhat of a good sign.
Any idea where the heck you picked this up at?
Hope you're better soon. Please take it easy. Things WILL get done.....eventually. It can wait!

Kris - Thanks for the kind thoughts. I'm sending you best wishes that your situation takes a turn for the better very soon. It's got to be hard. Hang in there.

Will be praying for a fast recovery for both of you.

Kristina - Today has been a good day, so I'm hoping things are REALLY looking up now. I'm so ready to be done with this!

Mama Pea said...

DFW - I promise you we will continue to do so! Thanks.

Leigh - Yes, I'm definitely feeling better today. Pain in chest is not nearly so acute so I think my healing mode has really kicked in!

Mama Pea said...

Nancy po - Gosh, I hadn't even thought about that, but I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

Sue - You know, what seems like this same bug (or slight variation of) has been going around our area all winter. Daughter had what she thought was flu but then it turned into (only) a bad cold. We could have gotten it from her . . . or off the handle of a cart at the local co-op! Who knows . . . We're counting ourselves lucky (cough-cough) because we know of folks who have ended up in the hospital with it. Ugh!

Mama Pea said...

Michelle - Thanks so much. We're both doing much, much better now.

Well it's about time you started to feel better. Maybe Papa Pea could put you in a box and mail you to CA where we can bake the bug out of you. Take care.

So glad to hear you are both on the mend. I was just about to fly down there and drag you both to the hospital but I see that isn't necessary, thank goodness!
I think it's going to be one of those slow years when everything is just slow to start and slow to grow but gets there in the end.

I can just imagine what you do to try to stop sneezing...Fingers up the nose???

@;) Get well soon, Chicka

Tombstone Livestock - Oh, A, you have no idea how GOOD that sounds! To stretch out and bake in your sun. We're still not having much warm weather . . . or sun. Maybe for the best since I still can't get out in the garden to start doing what needs to be done!

Sparkless - It surely IS starting slowly here. I was looking through some "spring" pictures a couple of days ago and couldn't believe how far behind we are compared to years past. I keep remembering what a seasoned gardener said to us when we first moved up here. He NEVER put anything (even cool weather crops) in the garden until June 1st each year.

Thank you, m'dear, for thinking about coming to "take care" of us. I have no doubt you would do it, too!

Mama Pea said...

Tami - That and other contortions! Thanks for the well wishes. Much appreciated!

Well, crap. I had hoped you were on the mend and just so busy that you didn't have time to check on us. (Right?) It's so hard to be still when there is so much to do - but this is one humdinger of a bug you have! Doesn't seem like you ever get sick, so it must take some getting used to. Have Papa Pea velcro you to the couch until you are POSITIVELY feeling better for more than a day. Promise?

I was so happy to see a post from you!!!!! I've been missing you my friend! And to know you've been so quiet because you've been so sick is so unlike you. All these years blogging together, I cannot remember another time you've been this sick. Now if we lived closeby, I'd be bringing you homemade chicken soup, (or homemade chicken 'n dumplings is actually what we prefer when one is sick :)) but instead I've been thinking good thoughts that you and your husband will be on the mend soon. Try not to overdo it too soon and continue to feel better so we can all drool over your lovely gardens!!!!

Mama Pea said...

Susan - Yeah, the hardest part (I'm finding) is that since I am actually feeling as though I'll live, I want to jump back into regular life. Did miscellaneous little householdy chores between loads of laundry this morning and darned if it didn't completely exhaust me. This afternoon I'm going from one sitting spot to another . . . and TRYING to be sensible so I don't suffer a relapse!

Mama Pea said...

Lisa - That's just it! Neither hubby nor I get sick so we have absolutely no tolerance (!) for this long spell we've had this bug. (I think my husband is more bothered by WHY we both succumbed to this than the actual illness! Made us both feel very vulnerable.) I've managed to make three big batches of chicken soup (with lots of germ-fighting garlic!) during this siege and we've pretty much been living on that. (But I would have LOVED some of your chicken 'n dumplings soup!) And, yes, not overdoing now that the worst is over will be the hard part!

I hope and pray you are better soon, sweetheart !!!!!

Don't worry about that menu planner app. LOL

Akannie - Your well wishes are working! I'm finally feeling better!
