Am sure it was made just for you - the size of a pea - dear Mama Pea!!

We have had a couple like that over the years, then back to normal, something just doesn't form right.

yup pea aixe, someone sure is not pulling their weight, if ya say 'Sunday Dinner's coming up' maybe she will get with the program.

That is just about the cutest thing ever.

haha that's the exact same egg I found today in my coop!

We call those "hiccup" eggs!

Mama Pea said...

2 Tramps - Ha! I didn't even think of that until you did . . . pea size!

Mama Pea said...

Sunnybrook Farm - It's almost like they started to lay an egg, and then something else got their attention and they forgot what they started to do!

Mama Pea said...

Tombstone Livestock - Can't even blame it on a young, immature hen. Our youngest are a year old this month!

Mama Pea said...

I'll Call You Jane - Yep, a perfect miniature egg. ('Cept no yolk!)

Mama Pea said...

Anonymous - Uh-oh. Must be something going around!

Mama Pea said...

Susan - Yes, I've heard that before, too.

Now that is one small egg. Is it normal inside, like does it have a yolk?

Sparkless said...

Oops didn't read all your replies before I posted.

Mama Pea said...

Sparkless - It sure would have been cool if it had had a yolk. I would have had to fry it up and take a picture of it next to a strip of bacon for size comparison!

Michelle said...

I got one that small but it was hard as a rock. There was no cracking that egg to see if it had a yolk. Lucky that was a one time deal for us so far.

I'm ticked at my hens right now so they don't DARE pop out one of those! Although I do have to admit that it is darned cute :)

Oh my gosh, that made me nearly spit out my coffee!! :)

We had that happen too, but only one time. Strange.

Perhaps time for a little pep talk...

Mama Pea said...

Michelle - Over the years, we've gotten small, not quite normal eggs but never one this perfectly shaped and SO small.

Mama Pea said...

Carolyn - I think your hens are all severely traumatized by that huge snake that was invading their house and home!

Mama Pea said...

Stephanie - Always something new and/or different to surprise us, huh?

Mama Pea said...

Kristina - You wouldn't think their egg-making "apparatus" could manufacture an egg so far from normal, would you?

Mama Pea said...

LindaCO - Can't you just see me hunkered down in the chicken house chanting, "Bigger, bigger, BIG-ger!

Endah Murniyati said...

Wow... so interesting! Will these little egg be a dwarft chicken? Maybe it will be so cute...

That's funny. We had a ginormous one last week, but no tiny one.

Lisa said...

CUTE!!! Never seen one that tiny here before.

Leigh said...

LOL, isn't it fun to get an odd little egg like that?

Mama Pea said...

Endah - Can you imagine if that egg had been viable . . . the little chick to hatch out would be about the size of a grasshopper!

Mama Pea said...

Little Homestead - Yep, I was wishing I had one of those occasional ginormous eggs to put compare it to. My little teeny-weenie egg would have looked even smaller!

Mama Pea said...

Lisa - And it was so perfectly formed! (Outside anyway.)

Mama Pea said...

Leigh - It's amazing it didn't get overlooked in the nest box!
