Oldies But Goodies

I've got some real treasures to post for the taking today.

Here is a set of four books containing knitting patterns that all of you ka-nitters out there will enjoy looking through.

They are all from the early to mid-1960s when I first started to really get into knitting.  Truth be told, it's kinda hard for me to part with these books, 'cause they sure do bring back a lot of memories.  However, two "savers" in the family (both Papa Pea and Chicken Mama) are quite enough, and I'm on a roll to get rid of "stuff" that, at this point in my life, feels as if it's weighing me down.

Some of these patterns don't look that different than ones you see in knitting books for sale today.

Very pretty, simple patterns you can do if you've done much knitting at all.

Even if you didn't want to knit a sweater, some of these beautiful patterns would make a gorgeous scarf or rectangular lap robe.  (The look this fella in the picture above has goin' is really stylin', isn't it?)

And here's an outfit that I'm sure many of you really need to add to your wardrobe.  (Seriously, doesn't it look like something you'd see on the red carpet today?)

If you'd like to receive the package of all four of these books, be the first to leave a comment saying so, and I'll ship these oldies but goodies off to you.

Crochet! Crochet!! I don't know how to KNIT yet!! Hope someone can use these. You have to admit that if you pasted "modern" faces onto the models, those sweaters would still be "in". Well, all except the one the guy has on. :)

Carolyn - There shall be no crochet patterns coming from this gal! My mom and daughter were/are both fantastic crocheters but the talent definitely skipped me.

But don't cha think the pattern of that guy's sweater would make a nice lap robe for an older gentleman in a care center, for instance? No? Well, we all have different tastes. ;o}

Now go learn how to knit!

I don't knit. But they look like great books. I just wanted to stop by to let you know I made your mushroom soup. OMG, it was so good. My daughter has never given anything a 10. The most was a 9 3/4. But she gave this a 10. I about hit the floor. First 10 and it wasn't even one of my recipes. LOL She is right this deserved the ten or maybe a 12. I will be making this again and again. I am pouring the leftovers ( made a double batch)over roast with noddles tonight for dinner. Yum

Michelle - You say it wasn't even one of your recipes . . . well, it is now! So tickled that you (and your daughter!) liked it. It's so good as a soup, but also wonderful used as as "gravy" as you're doing tonight. Thanks for the uplifting comment!

Isn't it fun to look at 'vintage' patterns and styles. They say if one waits long enough, fashion repeats itself... and seems like those patterns fit that. Though I knit, a little, I shall pass as I've got lots of 'vintage' patterns of my own that I need to go through. Wanted to wish you and Papa Pea a good weekend!

Lisa - But I know your "vintage" patterns aren't as old as mine are!

Thanks for the weekend wishes. The same back at you two!

Jeezus, nobody wants these?!

I'm telling ya, it's that freaky guy in the horseblanket sweater!!

Carolyn - I guess they're just "moldy oldies!"

(Hey, any horse would be proud, I say PROUD, to wear a horse blanket that looked like that!)
