Laboring On Labor Day

But I don't mind one bit.

I really hesitated starting to hang my laundry outside today because the forecast said "heavy fog." We didn't have any heavy fog, but it was a bit overcast first thing this morning. Glad I went ahead and tempted the fates because it's turned into a glorious day and half the laundry is dried and brought in already.

Big things are going on in the garage today. The garage has never been plumbed and since we want a utility sink and my new, big washer (which we've had for over a year . . . or has it been two years?) hooked up in there, work has begun on that project. Of course, this means poor Papa Pea will be spending more time working in the uncomfortably small crawl space, but he claims having water in the garage will be worth it. I've been keeping my fingers crossed that the new washer will be operational before my old one in the bathroom konks out again, and now it looks as if it just might happen. Hallelujah!

I couldn't help but admire these white phlox blossoms by the side of the deck where I hang my clothes. They're my last flowers to bloom each summer. The flowers are such a bright white and last quite a while.

Hope you're all enjoying your last day of the holiday weekend whatever you're doing.

P.S. Ha! Kinda curious how the font for this post went to a smaller type when I mentioned the "small crawl space" hubby would be working in! Curious and strange. (The ghosts and goulies are out two months early this year!)

The amazing "disappearing" fonts. Getting too small for my bum eyes! Happy Labor day. Looks like you (and I) did just that!

Enjoy the "new" washer and laundry sink.

I labored this weekend too! I'm pretty pooped today and now my house looks like it's under construction. I have over 40 people coming over in five days so I need to get my butt moving!

Sue - I'd rather be "laboring" at home than doing a lot of other things! (And I know you would, too.)

Tombstone Livestock - Having the utility sink in the garage is going to be soooo handy for my husband. There are so many times when I'm in the middle of cooking or doing something in the kitchen when he comes in with a bucket to fill at the kitchen sink. (I don't share very well when it comes to my kitchen!)

Kelly - Sometimes having a deadline gets us in gear to do some needed house projects but I think you're very brave to tackle what you have in a week's time. Not just cleaning but painting rooms???!

Ooooo, what I'd give for a wash sink in the laundry room / garage. Hope you get your laundry facility all spiffied up soon!

CR - The plumbing in the garage (like everything - sigh) isn't going to go as quickly as we would hope. Not much more done today than a lot of thinking, planning and sketching and figuring what needs to go where to be hooked up properly. But all that is necessary, I know, and I just have to keep my eye on the fact that it will be soooo nice when it's done. And things are not bad the way they are in the meantime. We wanna do it right the first time so best to take our time. Right? Right! :o]

Dan would sympathize about the crawl space!!! It will be wonderful to have your laundry area set up like that.

We labored on labor day too, Dan did firewood and I worked in the garden until it rained. Funny about celebrating a holiday like Labor Day, especially when all anybody seems to want to do is recreate!

I think crawl spaces should be abolished! Everyone should have a basement instead. I hope everything goes smoothly and you have your new laundry set up soon.

Ooooh, what I'd give for a garage...I think we should all celebrate being able to labor away at the things we (mostly) love! I got three loads of laundry up on the line as well. I hate it when I can't line dry my laundry. Having your new, big washing machine (and kitchen sink back) will be wonderful! Yay for Papa Pea!!!

I'm trying a new tactic for catching up my blog reading, from recent to old LOL, I WILL get back in the swing of a routine now that the kids are back in school :) Water in the garage sounds awesome, and that header photo is GORGEOUS!

You are far more patient that I. If I had a new 'toy' sitting around for a year I would have been doing everything I could to get it hooked up. In fact I am surprised you did not accidentally on purpose bring the demise of the old machine on much faster ;)

Sounds like you and Dan had a perfect holiday. You got some really satisfying things done outside and then had time inside when it rained. Not a bad way to spend the day!

Sparkless - Yep, this crawl space has been a big pain in the . . . in the everything! Work did progress today, but still more to go.

Susan - Yes, doing what makes us happy is a great way to spend a holiday!

Stephanie - Workin', workin', workin' on that old infrastructure!

Erin - Yes, you will be able to have more of a schedule of your own liking now that the boys are back in school. I always felt that way when hubby and daughter started back to school in the fall.

Thanks re the new header photo. I only wish the picture could have shown the SIZE of those two pumpkins. They are monsters!

Jane - If I had performed a mercy killing on my old washer, it would been either pull out the James Washer or go to the dreaded laundromat. (I'd opt for the James Washer any day!)
