Is It Quilting Season Yet?

The answer to the question is:  No, not until a few more of the outside fall chores are done.

I did spend a couple of hours over the weekend in my quilt room . . . cleaning and organizing.

There's no doubt I designed the room with lots of storage space.

And although it's all pretty neat and compact, I still don't have enough room for everything I'd like to have in there.  (Can any of you relate?)

I won't even show you the stack of fabric and quilts I have in a corner because I can't find anywhere else to put them.

And most of my knitting supplies are upstairs in an unfinished storage area off hubby's office.

All the same, I'm very, very grateful to have a designated room of my own.

We've been going through a period where having a second bedroom in the house would be extremely handy, and I've given thought to giving up my quilt room so it could be made into a bedroom.  But truth be told, that would just about break my little quilting heart in two.

Even though I don't spend as much time in my room as I would like, there's always the hope that I will find the time to do so in the not too distant future.  Winter is coming, winter is coming, winter is . . .

We had another hard frost again last night so I think my quilting season may be upon me! Woot!! Now I just need to clean out the garden and put it to bed. September is SO early to be doing that. sigh

Wow, what a space and so organized! I would like a whole room to myself, but a 2 bedroom house with teeny tiny closets doesn't allow for a whole of anything. Every room serves a multi-purpose.

Like your quilting room, sooner or later winter will come and it will be a nice place to hunker down and hibernate.

I love your organizational skills. I have my room I just need to organize better and stop visiting fabric stores.

But can you EVER truly have enough fabric???

You outdo Martha Stewart--and without a multimillion dollar corporation with paid staff! Yep, you're for real. The room looks great; thanks for inspiring me!-"M"

NEVER give up your space! Anyone who comes to visit can sleep on the couch. I mean, really, you HAVE to have your quilting room - don't you? And a knitting room isn't a bad idea either.

I'm working on getting me a quilting room. Don't know if it'll ever be as organized as yours but I can hope. Mine will have a day bed in it for those rare occasions I need an extra bedroom. I don't knit, but Susan has a good idea, a knitting room for all your knitting supplies. :-)

I use our spare room for a storage area, we close off the heat in winter and all the potatoes, squash, sweet potatoes, apples, etc..live there. Once in a great while we need it for people, but I just tell them I have moved things around so they can get into the bed itself, and sorry--that's all you get. But feel free to help yourself to an apple! LOL

It is IMPERATIVE that a girl have a room of her own. (Wasn't that Virginia Wolf talking about writers??) lol

What a wonderfully creative-ready space you have. It's just beautifully arranged, with lots of nooks and crannies and space for ideas and creativity to grow. Well done!

That is one organized quilt room!

Extra bedroom? Don't you know if you have an extra bedroom it means people will come and stay with you?

I think a rollaway in the corner will turn it into an extra bedroom on the occasions you need it. DON'T give it up! Or you might not get it back.

Wow! What a room, honest to goodness eye candy. Good idea to take photos while it looks so neat. The 2nd law of thermodynamics always takes over at our house and things invariably go from order to chaos in no seconds flat.

So happy to see a quilting post from you even if it is only the sewing room. And yes, you should keep the room as a sewing room for your own sanity ... and mine! hehehe How often do you have overnight guests? As often as that might happen, you could just throw a bunch of that fabric on the floor and let them sleep on it. Nice and comfy. Of course, then you would probably have to reorganize again. The tangle webs we weave!!!

All that beautiful fabric!! :) I understand the need for a spare bedroom, but I think this is a better use of the space lol. Let the guests sleep on the floor :P

You knew you would lure me out with this post! It looks beautiful, I've been doing my own organizing in my "room" too, and can't wait to get started again. Like you, I really have a few more weeks of other chores to do but I'm at least thinking about it :)

Love the picture of your sewing space. I've been wondering the same things here. Should I make a guest room and turn the extra space in my bedroom into the quilting room?? Maybe get a smaller bed so it doesn't take up so much room?? Oh, well, I guess I don't have to have the answer right away. I also have the option of taking part of the garage and converting it into a sewing room. Decisions, decisions.
