Where Are My Hip Boots?

Retraction from last night:

This morning I am worried about some flash flooding. We don't have the full picture yet but apparently some roads in our area, including the main highway, are experiencing water damage.

Our rain gauge shows 3-3/4" of rain since yesterday morning. Some areas south of us got as much as 6-1/4". The thunderstorms and rain pelting down kept both of us awake much of the night. We finally gave up at 3:30 and got up to make sure all was well around here.

Getting up a couple of hours before the alarm is scheduled to go off does give you a jump start on the day.

I had plenty of time to make a pan of Pancake Fluff for breakfast. I just pulled it out of the oven and it smells yummy!

When was it the forecast said we could expect a sunny day? Can't come fast enough! Squish-squish, splash-splash, blub, blub, blub . . .

Although I'm bitching about our drought (can you say less than an inch of rain since the beginning of April???), I have to admit that flooding scares the beejezus out of me...even though the creek is far enough away & way downhill, that much rain is scary. Hope you guys don't float away.

I can so relate. The annoying thing is, the rain won't come when we need it! Do stay safe!

Roads are out all over the place. The river near out house is over Hwy. 73 and Hwy. 2 is closed just south of town. I heard that Two Harbors is isolated, maybe you could still drive north towards Brimson? Everyone's basements are flooding, pastures under water, even a few houses in town. They're actually sandbagging the banks of one of our four rivers here. A bit more excitement than we need.

I hope you get some sun soon. Flooding is a nasty business.

What the heck is pancake fluff? Never heard of that before but it does look tasty.

Praying everyone stays safe.

(You know that later on you'll have to explain pancake fluff, right?)

This is Tina from OurRusticRoots, I'm locked out of my acct. right now for some dumb reason.

Sue - I know! We always think it will be so nice not to have to cook for a while but then we soon realize our own cooking is THE BEST when it comes to taste, nutrition and comfort!

Tombstone Livestock - A nap today? Ha! We're reinstalling our reverse osmosis water filtering system. We had to pull it out when we remodeled the kitchen and it's one of those things that's been waiting to get hooked up again. Of course, it involves the dreaded PLUMBING job which never seems to go as smoothly as one would like it to. But having it done will be great.

judy - We're doing fine. Lotsa water coming down but so far, so good. I was wondering if grid power would go out up here, too.

CR - I've never seen standing water in my raised beds like today. Enough already! Don't know how much more my garden can take. I think it's time to send some of the water your way.

Leigh - Thanks, Leigh. It sure would be nice if Mother Nature would spread it out a little more in smaller doses, wouldn't it? I just know we'll be short on moisture later on this summer.

odiie - I've seen pictures of farmers' pastures and fields completely covered with water. How hard to recover from that. And, of course, the homes with water damage. It sounds as if you got it worse than we did. Keep us posted.

Sparkless - I thought I'd done a post with the recipe for Pancake Fluff and I was going to link to it but darned if I could find it. I'll try again and if I truly can't find it, I'll post the recipe again 'cause it's easy and very tasty!

Tina - Thanks for your concern. We're doing okay. As I said to Sparkless, I'll post the Pancake Fluff recipe again if necessary.

Whew, I'm glad you didn't get the 10 inches and floating polar bear I heard about LOL but it looks like you still got swamped! Pancake Fluff looks great!
