We had rain all day yesterday, but the temp dropped enough today that we are getting a little snow.
It's sure not any great amount, but at least it's something. I don't think you can even see the snowflakes in the above picture, but it's been coming down steadily.
Even a little covering of white helps brighten up the bleak landscape we've been looking at since the fall color season left us. Maybe we will have a white Christmas after all!

We must be getting a similar weather pattern here. There wasn't any snow on the ground until last night and then it snowed about an inch but it's warming up and may melt fast. I had hopes of a white Christmas but they are fading fast.
It was 56 today here! Crazy. But that is over and the cold is back tomorrow. I do not have high hopes for a white Christmas here and I was hoping to get our Christmas Ice Sculpture outside early. Not looking good.
:) My daughter wished for a couple inches the other day, in time for Christmas, and I yelled at her..."NO! Murphy's law says when you wish for that, you get feet!! I don't want any, I will take a brown and grey Christmas!" LOL
I need it cold-my winter freezer is on the deck-or was till today, I made homemade turtles-it was just to much for the troublesome lonely squirrel. he stole one and came back, again and again for a second look or five finger discount, ha I fooled him-right under his nose-thank god for heavy duty plastic containers and its to big for him to carry off,if I wake tomorrow and there are gone ,it was a different animal, maybe one with 2 feet
Still raining here....but the winds have picked up so there is some hope. I can't believe it's mid month and still no snow. I dug in my garden today---no frozen ground. Even saw a worm. Crazy!
I wonder if we will see any snow in north central NC this year or into next year. It was in the mid 60's here today. Feels more like we are going into Spring rather than Winter. Never know what the heck to put on in the morning. Glad you got some of the white stuff to enjoy. And look at all those "beds" out there!!! You will be planting next year because your DIYing will be done .... correct???
Sparkless - Our temps are to plummet (down to 1 above!) tonight but then go back up to this melty-rain-slush stuff for a week. What's going on?
Jane - 56 at your place? Insane. It would be futile to put your ice sculpture out in this craziness.
Stephanie - Well, no doubt about it . . . snow does make more work all the way around!
judy - I know! A lot of us rely on a back porch or deck as extra freezer this time of year. You made turtles? I love turtles!
Sue - As our temp drops, we've had wind gusts up to 53 MPH this afternoon. Not nice! I'm pretty sure my garden soil is frozen, but it sure doesn't have but a dusting of snow for insulation.
Karen L. - Whether our remodeling is done or not, this gal will be planting her garden next year. That's a promise!
A dusting is better than nothing. :-)
It was spitting snow here last night and we got up this morning to a skiff of snow but it melted away before noon. Am missing the white stuff...
I keep reading that having a white Christmas or winter is less likely every year and I can believe it. I remember when I was a kid we always had tons of snow at Christmas and went sledding on Christmas eve. Now we have about a 50/50 chance of having snow and I live in BC for goodness sakes. Global warming they say.
Well I guess we picked a good year to stay here and save some $$, hard to imagine this time last year we were packing up the snowshoes and headed your way! I do hope you have a nice dusting (not enough to cause problems) or at least a nice snowfall to look at Christmas Eve. People ask if I ever got sick of the snow in MN but watching snow fall never ceases to be magical, does it?!
My dad bought each of my children the most awesome sleds for Christmas but there isn't a flurry of snow in sight or in the forecast - it's been up near 40F all week!
dr momi - Yup, even that little bit of white helps the drab landscape, for sure.
2 Tramps - I just heard our weekend weather forecast: 30% chance of light snow tomorrow and then up to the mid-30s on Sunday which means whatever we have will melt! Where's our white Christmas?? Waaaah.
Sparkless - Heck, I can remember growing up in northern Illinois when we often had snow on the ground at Thanksgiving. Lots of pictures of all of us playing outside in the snow after the big dinner! Times do change.
Erin - We had SO much snow last year, didn't we? I, too, never get tired of watching the snow flakes come down. So much more fascinating than rain!!
Jen - Oh, how disappointing for the kids not to be able to take their sleds out after receiving them! Bah-humbug.
See? I sent you my snow! We've had rain and warm temps and now ours is gone. The temperature is supposed to plummet tonight and be a lot colder over the weekend. A which Christmas would be awfully nice - even a white-ish Christmas! That's a pretty view, by the way.
Susan - Gawsh, thanks! The pic was taken off the front deck looking over what is our front yard, aka garden beds, field garden, fruit tree(s) on the left and our not-so-lovely-to-look-at solar panels.
