Whadda Guy!

Hubby and I have our "holiday" mugs that I bring out during the holiday season for us to have our morning coffee in. They are kind of special mugs that I've purchased. They match and there are just the two of them for the two of us. We've gone through several sets over the many years.

BUT for a couple of years now I've been looking for new ones because . . . our matching holiday mugs . . . no longer match.

Nor are they very special. Nor attractive.

First, one of the last matching holiday set got broken with the other following not too long after. So we've been using this pair of mismatched mugs. I think they came from when hubby was teaching and, as everyone knows, a coffee cup or mug is always a good Christmas present for your third grade teacher.

About a week ago, I was paging through a catalog and saw some mugs I really liked. I pointed them out to dear husband and then continued on through the catalog.

Today I heard the UPS truck pull into the yard and saw hubby go to meet the driver. Shortly thereafter I came into the kitchen and saw a package on the kitchen table.

I asked if that was what had come via UPS. Hubby said it was and it was for me.

"Me?" I asked. What could it be? The box was definitely too big to be the inserts I had recently ordered for my defective feet.

"Yup, he said. "It's for you."

"To open right now? It's not for Christmas?"

"Right."

Look what that sweetie had ordered for me. Well, for us I guess as they're the mugs I had seen in the catalog and are now our MATCHING pair of holiday mugs.

I can hardly wait for tomorrow morning's coffee time to test drive them!

Actually, I like them so much I'm wondering what I'd have to do to get Santa's Big Elf to order six more so we have enough of them to use for company, too. :o)

They are lovely! What a great guy - and THIRD GRADE? He just got even "cooler"! I don't know why but I imagined him a high school math or science teacher. It takes a lot of patience and love of kids to do that age set :)

Erin - Yup, he really found his niche in the lower grades. For many of his last teaching years, he was the only male in the elementary school. Having a strong male figure in the little kids' lives proved to be so important as many of them didn't have one to identify with. He was a fantastic teacher and parents would request their child be put in his class (as opposed to the other third grade) so much so that it was often an uncomfortable situation for administration to "find" enough kids for the other third grade.

Isn't he a sweetheart! What a great surprise for you.

My favorite teacher was Mr. Groth-4th grade, Amboy School. He was super!!! And 4th grade was a long time ago. :)

Love those mugs! I can see why you would want 4 more.

Your guy really is special! New matching mugs and a 3rd grade teacher. What a role model for the little kids ...

Yup, get many more because you know they will probably quit making them if you break one. Always stock up on the things you really like.

He will lie on a freezer for you, and suprise you with something you wanted??? Good gawd amighty! He is definitely a keeper. Those are wonderful mugs - very in-the-spirit. I am feeling a little bah humbug myself, but maybe I should get meself a holiday mug? Love the new santa-pea.

Alla - That he is!!

Judy D - I remember my first male teacher . . . 6th grade, Mr. Archer. He was 6-1/2' tall, weighed about 125 lbs., and was cross-eyed. He was also a good teacher!

Yvette - Yup, I am going to get more of them so I have a set to use!

Sue - I am going to keep him. (I don't have the energy to train in a new one. Hahahaha!)

Kelly - Thanks, I'm glad you like them.

Jane - Ain't that THE TRUTH!

Susan - Get a holiday mug-up with something strong in it! I think my new picture leaves something to be desired. I'm just not sure what.

Kaytee- Thanks!

Mama Tea - Call me crazy, but I used my cup for the first time this morning for my morning latte. I swear it was the BEST latte I've had in ages!! (Happy dance, happy dance, doing a little happy dance!)

It just doesn't seem right that my brother has to buy ceramic mugs - but I must admit that those look awfully nice and we don't do decoration like that, so I guess it's alright. Now if he starts buying plates, I might have to step in!!!

What a special hubby. Since he's a teacher, lets have him teach an on-line course for those of us with husbands who never think of things like that. He could charge for it and bring in some extra cash for some more mugs.

I have been hinting for months for a pair of muck boots. Yesterday he said "I have no clue what to get you for Christmas!" Duh!!

Marty - You sold the ceramics business and are supposed to be retired . . . even though you still work 6-7 days a week!

H, J, and F Farm - I can just picture hubby shuddering and then running at the thought of teaching other guys how to listen to their wives. It's just not how males are wired!
