Another Show & Tell Post

Along with all the "finishing-up" of outside fall tasks yet to be completed, I've been taking down time for myself to indulge my handwork craving.  I'm still stuck in the cross-stitching craze I've been in for a while.

Please remember I've never claimed to be a good photographer.  (That goes without saying!)  Far from it as you will readily notice.

A small knob-hanger for Halloween time.

Three happy pumpkins for that time, too.

Yep, Happy Thanksgiving!
It will be here soon.

Although fall themed, we can remember
this saying year 'round.

I'll wait to hang this little piece
until closer to Christmas.

This one is waiting for the
final finish.  The picture on the pattern
had more muted coloring, but
I'm very happy with mine.

There's no doubt this time of year makes me think of spending lots of time on the couch, with a fire crackling in the wood stove, keeping my hands busy and happy as can be.  And we may need that crackling fire sooner than not as our temperature at almost 7 this morning is still 34°.  Cozy time is coming!

  3. I was counted cross stitch addicted for many many years it was one of the first hand things I learned how to do your lovely photos and fun hangings take me back to a few years. I don’t know if I would do it again just because it would have to be really big that was one of the reasons I stopped because I knew I was not gonna be able to do 26 and 28 count stitching as I got older. But we’ll see maybe I’ll fine something fun to do.

How to skip the goats call sorry this is anonymous but I’m on my phone and I need to go feed now have a wonderful evening.

  4. Lovely cross stitch! I'm enjoying doing some of that myself in the evenings.

  5. Anonymous (Goatldi?) - I have NEVER attempted anything smaller than working on 14 ct. cloth. That's plenty small enough for me! If you use 7 ct. Klostern you can still make plenty of nice pieces and working on that makes the process go really fast!

Jan - Thank you! Yes, evenings are the only time I have to sit (still harvesting from the garden, preserving and trying to clean up the garden, too) and do cross-stitching right now but I'm really looking forward to snowy days this winter!

  6. Your itchin' stitchin' fingers have been busy! Lovely little pieces. 7ct.? That would be easier to see. Last winter, on an 'organize and clear out binge' in my craft room, I regretfully tossed an half finished X-stitch into the stove, after trying to finish it. It was a 'no go'. These long, dark mornings are conducive to crafting. Frost all over the last two mornings here... Beautiful, sunny days though, perfect to get the outside chores finished.

  7. Rosalea - I do think there are certain projects that are better off "tossed into the stove." So much effort and angst and guilt(?) because of something that will never turn out as one had hoped! So I say it was okay to give up on that half finished X-stitch. (Something I learn how to do myself!) We've not had a hard frost yet, just one morning when we saw frost on a shed roof, but our days have been lovely. The summer humidity is gone, we've had sunshine with a light breeze. Great for working up a sweat tearing out the garden. A chore I avoid but feel a sense of accomplishment when it's done!
