Tree Pruning Has Begun

I'm taking this as a definite sign of spring.  The past few days have been wonderfully warm (up into the 50s in the sun, and that feels warm!), full of sunshine and even making one think winter may actually be over.

Sure, we've still got snow on the ground (plenty of it in the woods), but it's melting each and every day now.

Papa Pea started pruning the apple trees this past week.  Yes, he did.

Notice he's even without the several layers of clothing that he's had to don when working outside for the past many months?  It was so warm he didn't even have a jacket on.  Amazing.

By looking closely, we can even notice there are buds (okay, very small ones) on our big twin birch tree outside the kitchen window.  I think we can safely say spring is on its way in the north woods!

    1. wisps of words - Isn't it strange how all winter long we don't give a thought to all those "rogue vines" and thousand other things outside that now we are so eager to do? :o]

    1. Rain - Take another look . . . he's not standing IN the garden cart, but behind it. With both feet planted firmly on the ground. 'Cause, no more chances being taken around here for another fall, that's for sure! :o]

    1. Phil - Don't feel bad. Blogger is driving my crazy on a couple of things! Commenting right here like this is one thing. After I click on "Reply" I have to wait two or three minutes for the box to appear. Talk about time wasting!!

Yes, the warmer, sun-filled days do make one feel hopeful. And also energized, too! Keep smiling.

  8. Mama Pea,
I have to say it's really nice to see Papa Pea out and working. Hows he doing with the pain....I hope the pain is gone!

Your snow is leaving, a true sign of spring knocking at your door. Soon you'll be planting your garden....woohoo!!!!

Do you prune your fruit trees yearly? I have a question for you, do you sprinkle Epson salt at the base of your trees?

    Sending hugs and love,
    Sandy

    1. Sandy - Papa Pea's pain is completely gone. Thank you for asking!

No, we've not sprinkled Epsom salts by our trees. We do prune them yearly in the spring. Also spread compost around base and then mulch heavily all summer long. Figure those roots need all the "food" and moisture they can get!

  11. Oh mercy! I just wrote a comment, and it went POOF, sigh... Trying to make contact with you, and it is hard.

Your Contact button did not work for me. Never saw it before. always look on Profile, for people's email addy.

  12. will try to answer your questions, which I copied and pasted below...

The "no-reply-blogger" thing shows, on the email which comes into my mail box, with your comments. It stays "no-reply" unless you do some Setting Change. A lot of people don't know this, and so, you are not alone.

    Better publish befor POOF

"Another little glitch . . . on my blog. I'm curious how you tried to contact me and I came up as a "no reply blogger." Did you use the "Contact Me" button over on my right hand side bar? I just did a test with it myself and my test message to me went through. BUT I have had trouble with it in the past in that the setting does seem to "slip" and keep anyone from using it. I also notice this morning that on my profile page, there is nowhere to click on to e-mail me. Now I have to see if that can be fixed. But if you use the "Contact Me" button, you should be able to get a private e-mail to me. Hopefully. :o\"
