After our last-of-the-summer hot, humid weather, the changing of the seasons is much welcomed. Night time temps have been falling down into the 50s with forecasts of down to the high 30s in the not too distant future. Okay, so our summer weather is over along with limited time (before Jack Frost makes an appearance) for anything left in the garden, but oh my, sleeping at night is so much nicer! Snuggling under that down comforter (we've yet to close the bedroom windows) each night is heavenly. (Also, harder to make oneself get out of bed in the morning!)
I've noticed blog postings in general (not just mine :o]) seem to be on the more infrequent side lately. Either we're all pooped at the end of a busy summer or feeling pressed for time knowing how much still needs to be done in order to be prepared for winter. I wish I had my fall decorations up and around the house, but don't know when I'll find time for that any time soon.

Our daughter stopped by for a visit yesterday with two of the three children she cares for during the day. The twins' big sister started school on Tuesday (very exciting!) so the little ones got all our attention.
This is the little guy, G, helping Papa Pea bring "his" stool into the kitchen from the garage. He walked backwards the whole way carrying his end.
I've titled this one, "N, what did you do to your brother?"
And then this one might be my daughter asking G what he did to his sister. To which I imagine the reply being, "Retaliation."
The twins are such a joy to watch. It's amazing what those little brains can assimilate and learn on a nearly day to day basis.

Well, since this looks to be a beautiful day with sunshine and very little humidity, I'm off to do what needs to be done. Toodles.
So jealous of your cooler temps though I shouldn't complain. "They" are saying we might get down into the 60s & highs in the low 80s by early next week, for a day or so, before it heads back up. Those kids are cutie pies!
ReplyDeleteW - I think we're all happy to get any cooler temps at this point of the game! How long do you have to go into the fall before you can count on having "pleasant" temperatures as a regular thing?
DeleteWe usually cool down (a relative term) sometime in early-mid October.
DeleteWe had our first day out of the 'hot box' today, and are looking forward high 60s weather this weekend. I'll be outdoor pretty much all day Saturday with a ham radio activity and will be relishing a light jacket or heavy shirt. Bring on the real fall weather!!
ReplyDeleteMark - "Sweatshirt weather" is my favorite time of the year! Hope your great weekend temperatures pan out. Looks like we'll have about the same.
DeleteTwin shenanigans...so cute! The fall? Well, we don't feel it just yet. It was in the 90's today with the heat indices of 107 and very humid. We're having a thunderstorm right now. I'm really looking forward to raising the windows and the feeling of that cool crisp air. I don't blame you for not closing yours.
ReplyDeleteLaurie - Oh, that hot and humid weather you're still having! Glad we seem to have entered into fall weather. Gives my energy a real boost . . . which can't hurt!
DeleteAutumn is creeping in here, I have been clearing vegetable beds and laying them with compost and muck from the heap its like putting them to bed for winter, in the next week or so we will start cutting down hedges and the final grass cut of the year :-)
ReplyDeleteDawn - Yes, my garden is calling me for massive amounts of clean-up right now. I'm involved in other little tasks, but must get out there asap. Layering the compost heaps really feels like you're putting the garden to bed, doesn't it?
DeleteWe had a wonderfully cool day yesterday and I spent the entire morning in the garden. It was sheer heaven.
ReplyDeleteI harvested the last of the peppers, got a TON of brandywines (!!!!!!!---you know how much I adore those!), dug the last of the taters, and got in the final bowl of blueberries. The garden is DONE. I'm so glad.
Now it's time for the fun to begin.
Enjoy your cooler temps, dear lady. It's now OUR time.
(reading, craftwork,hiking,RELAXING)
Sue - You're all done cleaning the garden?? WAAAAH! I've barely started and don't think I'll be able to work out there today either. Doing some painting inside while the weather still allows windows to be open and fan blowing the (stinky) air through.
DeleteEnjoy your brandywines, you lucky girl you!
It's cooling here a teensy, but not much. I do have more garden work to do, but it's mostly digging out the dead stuff.
ReplyDeleteKristina - Sending you some of our cool weather. That will make it easier to get out into the garden for clean-up!
DeleteMama Pea,
ReplyDeleteOur temperatures are dropping like yours.....in the 50's this weekend. There's plenty to do in the garden before fall/winter rolls in. As for being on the computer, it's few and far between for me right now due to having to constantly drive to TX to work on the estate.
You have your hands full with watching twins, they're adorable at that age.
Hugs,
Sandy
Sandy - I can imagine you must feel a bit in limbo right now . . . hard to have any kind of a normal routine while you work through what you have to handle in Texas. Glad to hear your temperatures are making being outdoors (for whatever reason) much more pleasant. Have a good weekend, friend.
DeleteWe got into the 50s for the first time last night. Wish it could stay autumn-like all winter!
ReplyDeleteIn regards to blogging, it may be the time of year. I'm working hard on another project and the rest of my time seems to be spent in garden harvest, preservation, or now, getting ready for winter.
The twins are adorable! So precious at that age.
Leigh - I'm sure the lower temps are even more welcome in your area than ours! After a couple/few days of delightful weather, we're now going back into some higher temps, but not as much humidity. I hope!
DeleteWe got glorious rain and cooler temps over the weekend and I was all excited about the arrival of fall. Until I looked at the forecast for the week ahead. High 80s. I am so disappointed...
ReplyDeleteSusan - Yep, we're getting warmer weather again, too. No rain for a while for us . . . and we need it. The only humidity I will accept now is in the form of rain! (How far do you think I'll get with that proclamation?)
