We finally got back at the deck deconstruction this weekend. I'm not sure how we got sidetracked (well, I do know, but it's too complicated to explain), but we're on it again now.
We finished removing 8,334 screws (but who was counting) which held the (rotting) deck boards in place.
Oh, if I could explain how sore my chest muscles were this morning after unscrewing all those screws yesterday. Who knew the muscles I was using? I would have thought the stress and strain would have been all in my arms.
Okay, buddy, put down that *&%! camera and get back to work!
Totally stripped and ready for construction to begin.
That's a LOT of work!
ReplyDeleteNancy - You are so right! :o] (And it ain't over!)
DeleteI would love a veranda area t sit out on at the end of the day, you have done good work there I suspect sore knees as well all that kneeling :-)
ReplyDeleteDawn - The kneeling pad helped A LOT!
DeleteCan't wait to watch you construct that new deck. Who would have guessed that you would need strong chest muscles to unscrew a bunch of screws. I guess now you won't need that bra though cause you'll have the chest muscles of a 20 year old!
ReplyDeleteSparkless - Ha! IF ONLY!
DeleteLOL!!!!
ReplyDeleteThreatening the camera man! Ha!
You are too cute. I know you counted those screws-teehee!
Sue - When I started, I actually contemplated counting the screws . . . but knowing my weak mind, I knew I couldn't use the power drill, move from one spot to another, breathe and count at the same time!
DeleteThanks for the laugh! But now PapaPea has got proof of you threatening him with power tools.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about MN but down here they'll string you up Sista....@;)
Tami - 'Least it wasn't a chainsaw . . .
DeleteI think they made of movie of the chainsaw.
DeleteHa!
This is going to be fantastic!!! Great job hanging in there through the 8,334. Had to feel those screws were neverending.
ReplyDeleteLisa - After I all the screws were removed, I went back and filled all the holes (!) to prevent possible water seeping into the joists! But that was MUCH easier than getting the screws out. Whew.
DeleteHa ha! You are hilarious. Looks like you have some work cut out for you both. I'm sure it will be fantastic when you are done.
ReplyDeleteKristina - We can only hope it will come out looking good . . . and last for 50 years. At least! ;o}
DeleteMama Pea,
ReplyDeleteNow that's a lot of work!!! I can understand why you were in pain.......you've done enough exercise for the new week just in removing screws and wood.
:-) I say it's now time to rest!!!!
On a serious note, you'll be very happy when the new wood is put down, and you won't have to replace or repair anything for many more years to come.
I think I would have cheated a bit and pulled out the reciprocating saw and had a cutting party :-)
Enjoyed how you harassed your husband with your drill.....
Are your temperatures cool still? It's reaching the 100's today here.
Hugs,
Sandy
Sandy - Our temps have remained on the cool side with only a couple of "hot-ish" days. Not our usual summer, that's for sure. Your temp of being in the 100s is waaaay too hot for me. Good thing we all are different enough that we manage to live in (tolerate?) the whackiness of our own environments, huh? Stay cool, m'dear!
DeleteWell done Mama Pea!
