Wrecking Work

A bit of progress made today on deconstructing the old deck.

Papa Pea struggling to remove a rusted-in bolt.

Me struggling to loosen the bolts on the underside.  Next I went to taking screws out of the deck floor.  Seems I screwed around for hours (sorry, I couldn't resist), but don't have even half of them removed.

What fun we do manage to have.

But we did make headway.

That is until the lovely blue sky clouded over and the dratted biting bugs came out driving us in.  Rain is forecast for tomorrow but if that turns out to be incorrect, we'll hit the deconstruction again.

  1. Great progress ... slow & steady wins the race. It is going to be beautiful once demolished, cleaned out & then rebuilt.

  2. You two sure do know how to have a good time! I want a picture of your both relaxing on the deck when it's done. You put me to shame with all the work you get done. I bet your deck is going to look beautiful when it's done.

One would think we go looking for things to work on . . . but they seem to readily appear!

The deck isn't going to be anything worthy of a magazine layout, just serviceable and able to last many, many years . . . we hope.

  3. Mama Pea,
You've made great progress!!! Any project done right will take days to deconstruct :-)
Damn those bug/flies!!! They're such a nuisance, you would think they would take a break from biting the crap out of you.....right?? Looking good girl :-)
    Now stop screwing around........
Just teasing, enjoy the nice break away from bugs and rain.

    1. Sandy - You'll be glad to know I've stopped screwing around. ;o] No deck work today as it's raining steadily. We'll just have to find SOMETHING to do inside today.

Isn't it discouraging when tearing something apart, the deconstruction of it, takes so much more time than you imagine it should? I dreamed last night of burning off the old deck. Now that would be a really bright idea, wouldn't it? NOT!!

    1. Lisa - Ha! I'll be glad if the deck is just FINISHED by the end of summer! That will provide enough "relaxation" for me. But mucho thanks for the good wishes!
