See that little quilted piece on the wall under the framed picture? It's a small wall hanging I made a couple of years ago, and I really like it. But the fabrics I used in making it are definitely of an "autumnal" hue. With our summer season approaching (we're still holding out hope), I wanted something that said "green and growing" more than "end-of-the-season-wrap-up."
New piece done, new piece in place.
When my daughter saw this being made she thought it was something for Christmas. Hey, reds and greens can be just as much summer colors as Christmas ones!
The block I chose is an old one called, simply, Flower Pot.
I wanted bright colors of summer, but also wanted it to coordinate with the colors used in the framed cross-stitch hanging above it.
This little project has been on my Wanna-Do List for a while. And now it's done!

Love it! You do such beautiful work. I made a plain (all greens) spring table runner top today. Hope to get it put together tomorrow. But, I don't hand quilt, just learned to stipple on my sewing machine.

Your Flower Pot quilted picture is adorable. It really looks good hanging there.......and it's not for Christmas. It accents the border around your moose and deer needle point picture.

Leigh - Aw, shucks, thank you. I know some people think I'm stuck at the kindergarten level (paste, colored paper and scissors), but I love decorating for the seasons. Don't think I could ever make it with the same things out and about year in and year out!

I made two of those cross-stitches. Gave both to my daughter asking her to mat and frame them and keep one for herself. I got mine back right away but don't think she ever framed the one for herself. (Isn't that so often the way?!)

Looks great. I love the pattern. My kitchen is in red and green with a little wheat color thrown in. Those colors work any time of the year including summer.
