This morning we woke to 1-1/2" or 2" of new snow and it's still coming down lightly.
If this were November, we snow lovers who choose to live up here near the tundra would be dancing naked adorned with a wreath of pine boughs on our head reveling in what would be looking like a wonderful winter season ahead.
On April 8th, not so much.
But as I often say, we need moisture for the upcoming growing season and we are, indeed, getting a lovely dose of "poor man's fertilizer."
For all of you working in your gardens today, planting those cooler weather crops and perhaps even setting out started plants, I'm with you in spirit.
Oh my dear friend, Mama Pea, I am so sorry I just posted about our 75 degree weather.... sniff, sniff. I do so feel for you, because as much I enjoy our SC winters, I am ready for a true Spring too. Will keep you 'in spirit' and hope for a big thaw-down for you soon.
ReplyDeleteLisa - It isn't exactly warm today but we did reach up into the low 40s so we've had quite a bit of melting. Hooray!
DeleteYes, once it's April - enough is enough! I am headed out to clean my center garden beds right now, and hopefully discover some good compost from hubby's "heap" and top off the beds. Top off - who am I kidding, the beds are about a foot low LOL

DeleteAAAK! I was thinking of you yesterday when it hit 70 and we were in the garden. Mother nature is making up for last years dryness for sure! Think of it as more planning time for summer projects and finishing all those indoor chores....& possibly putting your feet up for once!

DeleteSheesh, you are sure getting hammered with winter. Guess you'll just have a delayed spring. Now take this time to relax before spring hits you in the face and you have to run all day to keep up with all the chores that have to get done.
ReplyDeleteSparkless - I am trying to savor each of these days before full-blown summer hits us. We usually have very little actual spring . . . it's more like we go from winter to summer.
DeleteWe had snow yesterday , but HEAVY rain today so that's much better. I left the cover off the cold frame to get some good moisture in there. Hard to imagine the lettuce is up and doing well. We had a foot of snow last week.

DeleteWe are having rain and bad winds. I had to cover my plants to protect them. I am so ready for warm weather.
