My Tummy Can Hardly Wait

No, I didn't bake our Thanksgiving Day pumpkin pie two weeks early.  It's just that I'm needin' some comfort food today and pumpkin pie with whipped cream does it for me.

To ensure we have a balanced meal before I dive into the pumpkin pie at dinner time, I have chicken (we have a lot of chicken to work our way through this winter) baking in the oven for the main course along with mashed taters and gravy.  It'll be Brussels sprouts for the green veggie.

My clock says it's only 3:17 now and my stomach is starting to growl already.

  2. Oh, my dear Mama Pea---we had roast chicken with mashed potatoes for lunch---but hubby likes corn with his-he smushes it in the potatoes like a very large child. I adore him, so I don't say anything....
I won't make a pumpkin pie until T-day, but that photo of yours is making MY tummy growl. Hope it tastes as wonderful as it looks!

    1. Sue - Hey! You got through!! I was beginning to think I'd never have a comment from you again!

I'm with your hubby . . . I like to mix my corn in with mashed potatoes. Something about the texture of the two together.

P.S. The pumpkin pie was gooood. Can hardly wait for breakfast for a second piece! What? Custard for breakfast? That's not so bad.

    1. Susan - Not a good time of year for traveling, darlin'. We've just had a very (VERY) damp, dark day. No rain or snow. Did you get the snow you were supposed to?

    1. Erin - The aroma in the house this afternoon was great. It was the HEAT that just about did me in! With the oven on all afternoon and the wood stove that I should have snookered down sooner than I did, I had it up to 75.2 degrees in here. Had to open doors and windows to avoid stuffication!

  5. Looks yummy! I ate Spaghettio's today. They aren't even that good, but it was my comfort food from childhood ☺

    1. Kelly - Ha! Have you noticed that commercial foods you remember so fondly from your childhood don't taste nearly as good anymore? I used to love canned ravioli but my mom rarely bought it. Last time I had some (gads, how long ago was that?), it was AWFUL!

    1. CR - Apparently a few other people around here were ready for a pumpkin pie besides me. We cut into it last night when CM was here and when she popped in late this afternoon, she commented, "Umm, looks like serious damage was done to this pie today!"

    1. judy - You have a right to be un-cheerful to anyone who would rather have pizza than turkey for Thanksgiving! What's WRONG with those people?!

  9. Looks yummy! But why do you need chicken and brussel sprouts? Pumpkin pie sounds like a fine meal all by itself. To me. :) I confess we've made breakfast of it before!

  10. I'm working my way through my feed and saw this.

I LOVE pumpkin pie. Hope this one was as delicious as it looks. I love mine with whipped cream, to the extent that my family jokes it's about a 50/50 pie to topping ratio on my plate. :-)

    1. LindaCO - People actually eat pumpkin pie withOUT whipped cream??! You and my hubby might get into a big fight at the table over the bowl of whipped cream. He is often asked if he wouldn't like a little pumpkin pie with his whipped cream!
