A Pretty Good Team

I've not done much blogging these last couple of days, maybe because not too much noteworthy has been going on around here.

That's not to say we've been napping a lot and stuffing ourselves with caramel corn. (Okay, so I DID make two double batches of caramel corn. Hey, it's the perfect time of year for it, right?)

We really have been getting things accomplished.

One thing that's been happening is the sorting out of areas that have been too much of a mumble-jumbled mess for too long. De-cluttering, if you will. That's the aim anyway. How much headway we'll continue to make (and there is a LOT of headway still to be made) along those lines remains to be seen. But we have been working at it.

While trying to bring organization to the disorganization, deciding what to toss and what to keep, figuring out what to put where for a better way of storing it, we've found we're a pretty good working team.

My hubby has plans and ideas that would never occur to me. He's truly an idea man. He can come up with a "good" reason for keeping anything. I'm the practical, down-to-earth one who sees more clearly that we can't do everything each of us professes to want to do. He's always ready to think outside the box and I can see what is realistically possible and what is not. (He's fond of referring to me as his anchor. But I'm not at all sure he means it in the most complimentary way.)

I like to think that we each have our strong points and by working together and respecting each other, we're making some changes that will benefit both of us more than if we just did everything his way or my way.

  1. I need to declutter too, maybe when it cools off I will get some ambition. I have a box started for donations, but I need to get serious and get er done.

    1. Tombstone Livestock - We've had a real cooling off of our temps here and I think that really has given us the oompf to hit some of these sorting/decluttering jobs. You'll feel more like it when your temps drop, I'll betcha!

  2. I envy your ability to work alongside your husband. Paul and I have to work on separate projects in separate rooms (or at least 500' away from each other if outdoors).

    1. Carolyn Renee- Well, I gotta admit our working together has gotten a LOT better over the years. See? Maybe there's hope for you and Paul yet!

  3. I"m so glad that V and I are able to work together as well. Although we are both, unfortunately, the "we might use this someday" types so tend to have a lot of clutter. But, I must say, sometimes saving things comes in handy- at least three times this week we have been able to repurpose something that we had saved from previously to good use: a piece of lumber, a pressure gauge and a salvaged bolt. Not too bad for a week of junking!

    1. Judy - I often tell my hubby that if I were a "saver" as he is, we would qualify for that hoarders program! BUT I will readily admit that often we've been "saved" by an extra part or piece that he has squirreled away so his way is not all bad. We just have to really work at keeping all the stuff organized . . . so we can find it!

  4. I need to do a major declutter too. What usually happens is I start and sort everything into piles. Then I see that most of the stuff I have to keep and have no where to keep it. This leads to frustration and desperation and then I pretty much give up and go do something else after shoving the stuff we have to keep back into the boxes it came out of.
I used to be the most organized person now with two kids and a husband I've given up entirely.

    1. Sparkless - From what you've said, it sounds as if you don't have adequate storage space. I read somewhere long ago that you don't need a huge amount of living space . . . IF you have adequate storage space. That's probably very true.

  5. It's so nice to see that balance and comfort (well, virtually see) in a relationship. I think it's what we all strive for. I, unfortunately, have both those traits - thinking way outside of the box AND coming up with all the practical uses for something. This leads me to not let go of a lot of stuff I should.

  6. Susan - I'd say it also makes you a very balanced person!

    1. Anyone as organized and normally decluttered as you are shouldn't have anything to declutter!
