Just a short post with some pictures taken at first light this morning to prove we actually got some snow overnight. Hooray!
When I got up for a pit stop (shouldn't have had that glass of wine) at 2 a.m., the snow must have just started because the deck wasn't even covered then. I think we had gotten about 2-3" by the time we got up this morning.
The birds were out full-force gobbling down their breakfast.
Mr. Squirrel was also looking for something to fill his belly.
When we went to bed last night the temp was 31 degrees. Exactly the same when we got up this morning. So you know the snow was very wet . . . which made for lovely scenery this morning as the snow was clinging to every branch. Now at noon, the temp is 32.9 and the snow has stopped . . . and probably will be melting through the rest of the day. We'll take whatever moisture we can get right now. Snow is poor man's fertilizer, as the old saying goes.
Cute picture of Mr. Squirrel. It's snowing here right now...melting when it hits the ground. Weird year. May more snow be in your future :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry for confusing you Mama Pea, but after getting frustrated arranging first blog, I started a second one (w/ jump link) to update with rants, thoughts, misc. etc. It is Tombstone Tidings ... pictures of the 3 new baby goats are there and my brocolli.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snow! Wish we had it here... Thanks in advance for the cookie recipe - molasses - yum! And yes, 7 loads of laundry but I have a second washer in our shop - so I run back and forth from house to shop and back again. Anything to get that chore done!
ReplyDeleteThat is so lovely! I really do miss the snow this year - and I can't believe I am saying that.
ReplyDeletedr momi - The snow has started again (2:30 and I just shoveled the deck again) although our temp reads 34. Um, so how can it be snowing? Oh well, we'll take it. Weird year, for sure.
ReplyDeleteTombstone Livestock - Well, now I feel pretty stoopid, but also straightened out! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. (I often need help.)
2 Tramps - Aha, two washing machines . . . almost like going to the laundromat and filling seven machines at once! (Well, not really, but faster than just one machine.)
Susan - I know last winter you would have given anything for a snowless week or three! (We're never satisfied, are we? ;o])
That's great news! We were the same temp as you this morning, a thick coating of hard frost all over, but it's now 53ยบ, I just can't figure out when to sow anything out there this year LOL
ReplyDeleteNEVER HEARD THAT ONE ,BUT IF SO THAN MN MUST HAVE BEEN VERY FERTILE SINCE YEARS PAST WERE SO SNOWY,OH NO WONDER THEY NAMED IT FERTILE, MN
ReplyDeleteIs the squirrel holding a cup? So cute. Your snow does looks pretty.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard for me to comment due to the new double vision code to sypher. I will try again. Hope it works this time.
Erin - As far as your garden goes, I wouldn't know what to suggest with the weather you've been having! I know you're anxious but I'm wondering if you're gonna have another season where you'll have trouble with the cool weather crops because of your day time temps. What a cwap shoot!
ReplyDeletejudy - Fertile, Minnesota! Must be good farming country, right?
Nancy - Those new Word Verifications are AWFUL. On one today I had to try three times before I got it right. :o(
Ooooo! Squirrel for dinner?? Just kidding! Well, kind'a.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Renee - Squirrel for dinner? Shhhh, it's happened before around here. ;o}
ReplyDeleteLorie - Thank you! Even though the temp got above freezing today, miraculously not a lot of the snow seemed to melt!
I love seeing your snow pictures. I wish we lived somewhere where it snowed more. I know, a lot of your readers will shoot me for that comment. Hope there is more in your future.
ReplyDeleteI don't like squirrels, but that photo sure is cute.
ReplyDeleteOh, how cute is Mr. Squirrel! We've had much much more snow here, in our country (Romania). It has been a hard winter this year.
ReplyDeleteRuth - We're seriously hoping for more snow or we're going to have severe forest fire danger this spring! Come on snow!!
ReplyDeletemeemsnyc - I'm not crazy about the squirrels either because they are little pigs when it comes to eating the sunflower seeds we put out for the birds!
cristina - Welcome and thanks for commenting! Hope your snow and hard winter let's up now and you can coast into spring!
