Although I didn't get to go the twenty miles down the road to meet with my friends for a morning of hand work because the roads were not in very good shape (whine, whine), the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day with all the new snow.
Who wouldn't be energized by all that beautiful solar energy streaming in through the windows?
This was taken plowing our driveway this morning. All in all, we got about 11+" of snow. Not a great huge amount as far as snowstorms go, but the largest amount we've seen this winter.
On the way plowing out the driveway, four or five deer bounced across in front of the truck. Then about two-thirds of the way back in on the driveway toward the house, these guys were spotted in the woods. They didn't move a muscle when I got out of the truck, and walked around to the back of it to snap their picture. They sure are beautiful critters, aren't they?
Papa Pea is still out finishing up the hand shoveling. I hear him on the roof as we speak. I've got lentil soup heating on the stove for lunch. I think I'll make some croutons, which he loves, to go with the soup.
We finally got snow, too! Hurray! Tramp 1 couldn't find the snow shovels - it has been so long... Enjoy your soup!
ReplyDeleteYes! There's nothing more cheerful than a sunny day after a good snowfall. I am SOOOO grateful for our south facing picture windows on such a day! ;) -"M"
ReplyDeleteNo snow here. People are tilling up their gardens and planting. So weird.
ReplyDeleteThose deer look very healthy. A no snow winter was a plus for them! We are down for 10 inches on Tues night (we'll see).
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is so CHEERY!
Oh, my, what a beautiful shot of the sun coming through your windows. That has to perk anyone up! And those deer! I don't think I've seen such healthy, handsome deer in a coon's age.
ReplyDeleteI sure do love that view of your kitchen. Looks like a great table to sit and eat while looking out the windows. After seeing that photo, it's hard to believe all the snow in the others. Yay snow; yay sun! Guess there won't be any quilting today. Sorry for that!
ReplyDelete2 Tramps - Our snow shovels come out in October! (And usually don't get put away until the end of April.) We even have a shovel in each vehicle . . . have to 'cause it's just too easy to get stuck around here in a normal winter.
ReplyDelete"M" - I think it's not just the sun beams themselves but the tremendous reflection we get off all that sparkly white snow!
JJ - Heck, I've been looking at the pictures of your kids barefoot outside all "winter!"
dr momi - Yep, it has been a good year for the deer. Little snow means all their browse isn't buried and they can easily run from the wolves. Thanks for saying my kitchen is cheery . . . the sun sure does help!
"Papa Pea is still out finishing up the hand shoveling. I hear him on the roof as we speak."
ReplyDeleteHear him on the ROOF? Shoveling?? I swear, you Northern Folk are something different! :)
Oh wow! Love your kitchen and how warm and inviting it looks. Beautiful pictures of the deer and all your snow.
ReplyDeleteWe got about 2" the other day but it rained and is almost gone now. Today it's sunny.
I need a good recipe for lentil soup cause the times I've made it no one would eat it.
That first picture is amazing- what a sunny, cozy house in the midst of all that snow:-).
ReplyDeleteIt is strange to read about people having snow recently! It has been so unseasonably warm here that I am tempted to start planting things out in the garden.
ReplyDeleteCR - I suppose that did sound a little strange! We have an attached garage that was put on after the construction of our house. We ended up with a wonky roof line where the garage joins the house. When it snows, a big pile collects in a bad spot. If it's left there and starts to melt and then freezes, an ice dam forms and we get leakage through the skylight on our back porch. So we have to keep the snow shoveled off of that particular spot. And then no leaking! Complicated, huh? (Also a little strange?)
ReplyDeleteSparkless - If you want, I'll post my recipe for Lentil Soup for you to try. I know I've posted it before but can't find it in my old posts for love nor money. Everyone who's had it says it's very flavorful.
I'll Call You Jane - Why, thank you for the kind words! Sunshine just seems to help everything. (It also shows a lot more dirt than a gray day! Ooops.)
Susan - The local deer are in very good shape at this time. It's been an easy winter for them, thankfully!
Karen L. - I AM squeezing in some quilting this afternoon! Sewing the binding on that purple and yellow baby quilt. The laundry is done, my stint of shoveling outside is done, and dinner is simmering on the stove.
Love the sun shining in your windows. Are you saying your hubby is shoveling the roof?? EE-Gads!
ReplyDeleteps; I hate the new double security words to type. I can't get it right most times.
Nancy - Yep, he was shoveling the roof. I explained to Carolyn Renee (above) about our "bad" roof lines but also roofs up here do get shoveled regularly if we have a winter with a lot of snow. Many a roof has collapsed from the weight of a few feet of snow so it's something we have to be aware of. There are even guys who advertise they will come and shovel off roofs.
ReplyDeleteI saw that you had snow coming your way. 11 inches. Wow. That's more than we've had all together this winter.
ReplyDeleteAnd your kitchen looks lovely and inviting.
Judy
Judy - And it's more than WE'VE had all winter! Supposedly as much to come again Tuesday night into Wednesday. Batten down the hatches!
ReplyDeletePrairie Cat - It seems to be unseasonably warm in so many parts of the country! Hard to believe people can actually be digging in the dirt already! Heck, it's 6 weeks at least before we even start our seedlings inside up here this far north!
ReplyDeleteMama Pea,
ReplyDeleteNo snow here. Just rain tomorrow and temps in the high 50's. Wendseday might get up to 70!
The flowering Pear and Cherry trees are starting to bloom. A sure sign that Spring is just around the corner!
Tom
I am just SO in love with your sunshiney kitchen--it just glows. What a PERFECT spot to enjoy the day!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you yesterday-it was sunny and 40 when we hit Illinois-OMG-it was wonderful. Nebraska is supposed to be 54. Heaven????
:)
hey,how did I miss a day,but my question from your beautiful view of your room ,is ,who gets those books down for you,do you keep a step ladder in the house or you are a lot taller than you led us to believe----lol
ReplyDeleteThat photo inside the house is beautiful!! I'm so glad you are enjoying that snowfall, hopefully it will stick around a bit :)
ReplyDeleteTom - Oh, you are soooo far ahead of us in the seasons! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSue - I can just FEEL your bones warming up! (Big grin.) Keep us all updated, please.
judy - Believe me, the books that go on the shelves above the windows are ones that don't get used very often. Papa Pea has almost a foot of height on me and he has to stretch his garters to reach them!
Erin - The snow should stick around a bit because we are forecast another big dumping tonight and tomorrow! (No sun streaming in this morning, it's vewy, vewy gway out there!)
Great pics. Just glad we don't have snow. I planted sugar snap peas yesterday.
ReplyDeleteTeresa - You planted peas yesterday??! I don't know whether that makes me feel envious or glad I still have some "inside" time before going full-bore in the garden! Is that an early planting even for you?
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your kitchen! Of course. :)
ReplyDeleteLeigh - Thanks so much, Leigh. You're a sweetheart!
