There's a word or term for it, but I don't know what it is.
For instance, have you ever noticed:
- when you finally get around to doing some serious sorting out, whether it be of old clothing or kitchen utensils or books, and give away an item that you haven't used in y-e-a-r-s, within the next few days you have a desperate need of that particular item and wish to high heaven you hadn't given it away?
Have you ever noticed:
- when you have a particularly witty or intelligent or useful comment to leave on someone's blog post, it's a blog that Blogger won't let you comment on?
Have you ever noticed:
- when you loan out a piece of equipment or tool that you use only perhaps twice a year, the next day there is an immediate need for that very same tool . . . but, of course, it's at a friend's house 20 miles away?
Have you ever noticed:
- when you have a cut or crack or scrape or burn on one of your fingers, it's inevitable you bang, hit or otherwise re-injure that same spot on your finger six or seven times a day?
Anyone have some of your own to add to the list?
Have Ya Ever Noticed..
ReplyDeleteThat the one day you don't get dressed or wear ugly sweats, don't comb your hair or wash your face someone always shows up at your door - and you live where no one comes to your door for months on end?!
2 Tramps - YES!! That is the perfect one that always bites you in the butt (if you'll excuse the expression)!
ReplyDeleteHave ya ever noticed...how you've forgotten to do something for someone and figure you can squeeze it in later in the day and they call you looking for it as soon as you remember you've forgotten it? Clear as mud?
ReplyDeleteHave you ever noticed that on the days you decide NOT to clean the house your parents decide to come for an unexpected visit?
ReplyDeletehave you ever noticed real life sometimes gets in the way of your best laid plans for the day ...........
ReplyDeleteI think the "word / term" is called Murphy's Law ............
Oops I forgot to comb my hair today, but, no problem, my gate is locked, lol.
for sure 2 Tramps, wish I had my hair washed that certain day,or have you ever forgotten to send that thank you out thats should have been done a month ago,did you make that important appt, but didn't or my biggest is making a list to bring with you to the store and never taking it out of my purse and get home and NO TP,oh,sears catalog, where are you when I need you
ReplyDeleteIt is a warped sort of kismet
ReplyDeletelike when you only need to make it to the end of the day (or week or month) and things will be smooth sailing again and then SOMETHING has to go wrong, usually costing money.
or you decide to talk a day off to do something frivolous (although I think self time is really a necessity) and then the temperature drops or it rains for a week and you can not finish a project it would only have taken you that one "wasted" day to accomplish.
Yes to all of these. My gosh. And I thought it was just me!
ReplyDeleteThese were all wonderful, and so true. I guess it's called "Life"....LOL!
I was going to say the same thing as 2Tramps! Just today I had a couple hours to myself this morning and I thought I'd catch up on blog reading still in my jammies and there was a knock at the door LOL!
ReplyDeleteSusan - Yup, and you kick yourself for not having it done BEFORE they could call!
ReplyDeleteNetty - Or even worse, someone who has never been inside your house stops by and you immediately think, "OMG, they think the house looks like this all the time!"
Tombstone Livestock - Ah yes, life. How can I spend the whole day busy, doing one thing after another and at the end of the day, not one single thing on the list can be checked off??
judy - Oh, I cannot (simply CAN NOT) shop without a list. My brain cells are not that strong.
DogsMom - That happens continually with me when I take some "time off!" It's like there's some evil force out there dancing around and saying, "Na-nah-na-nah-na, I told you you should have kept working!"
Sue - Maybe we should stop trying to cover all bases and just proclaim to the world, "I yam what I yam what I yam." (Wasn't it Popeye that said that?) Whatever happens, so be it.
Erin - Yup, and when that happens I always imagine that person going out into the world and telling everyone I'm sitting reading in my pjs everyday until at least noon. :o\
Have ya ever noticed that the oven totally breaks down during the middle of roasting the Thanksgiving or Christmas turkey-with family and friends soon arriving? Of course, its a holiday and the appliance guy is busy watching football with his family!-"M"
ReplyDeleteKind of like Anonymous-
ReplyDeleteHave you ever noticed that if your furnace decides to go out, it's on the coldest night of the year- and always on a weekend.
Judy
Have ya ever noticed...
ReplyDeleteHow there can be a 500 roll package of toilet paper in the hall closet, but you are ALWAYS the only one who ever puts more under the sink for future use? Teens do not believe in replenishment...much to my chagrin (yep been caught a few times in there, screaming for someone to throw me a roll!!)
"M" - And that is such a helpless feeling!
ReplyDeleteAgree w/all. Especially when you have a cut or bruise. How do I manage to hit that each and every day?
ReplyDeleteJudy - I think there's some rule that says furnaces can't malfunction when the temperature is ABOVE 32 degrees! But drop below freezing, and watch out!
ReplyDeleteStephanie - Don'tcha know that's a "mama" job? (And some kids - males for the most part - NEVER learn to restock important things like TP!)
DFW - It's like some outside force zeroes in on the owie and brings everything possible into contact with the sore spot!
Have you ever noticed that when you want to make a cake that takes three eggs, you only have two ..... so you make a two egg omelet instead. Good enough! Loved reading all the posts!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever noticed when you set something down, you come back to get it and you cant find it. Then you walk around for 20 minutes looking for it?
ReplyDeleteHave you ever noticed when you do the above, you start mumbling colorful words as if somehow it will make the missing item jump out at you?
YES! LOL. Mama Pea, you ought to collect all these and make it into a book!
ReplyDeleteso, so true!
ReplyDeleteKaren L. - Or ANY recipe you get a real hankering to make, but you're missing one vital ingredient. Arrrgh!
ReplyDeleteJane - Yup, like that "whatever" better show its face right now or it's really gonna get it!! Doesn't help, does it?
Leigh and Deb - You all came up with some gems!
Who is Murphy and why does he do these things to us?!? :)
ReplyDeleteKelly - I don't know who Murphy is but we need to find him and put a stop to all his shenanigans!
