Fall is the perfect season for baking pies. We've got more time to spend in the kitchen and it's even cool enough to light the oven again.
I'm still plodding my way through cook books that have become lonely on my shelf because of lack of use. So here's another really nice book that needs to find a new home.
It's a Story Publishing Book titled "Perfect Fruit Pies." Once again, it's got a few of my scribbled notes inside on recipes I've tried. In looking through it again this weekend, I found four or five recipes that I've just got to try yet so I made copies of them, but am ready to send the book off to one of you who would like to have it.
Just leave a comment saying you'd like your name to be put in the drawing. And how about mentioning what YOUR favorite pie is? It will be fun to see if we each have a different favorite or if one pie gets most of the votes.
I'll draw the winner out of a pie plate this coming Wednesday night and announce the winner Thursday morning.
Happy pie baking!
Put me in the drawing. My favorite pie....blueberry!
ReplyDeletemy favorite is apple,banana cream,pumpkin,blueberry,cherry,lemon meringue,key lime [never had it ]choc. silk,charlie brown pie,pecan.peach,and coconut cream---one pie--oh,OK put my name in so I can make a perfect cherry pie
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pie is Coconut Cream. My husband's favorite (as he just mentioned) is French Silk. I confess I'm glad he likes it because I like to bake it!
ReplyDeleteOh! And please put my name in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way I can choose. I love them all! But right now I'm craving blackberry.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough to decide between blueberry or apple. Peach is really good, too!
ReplyDeletedr momi - You and my hubby! He asks for a Blueberry Pie for his birthday "cake" every year.
ReplyDeletejudy - Okay, you've given me my chuckle for the day! What? No mincemeat? (Me either!)
Cr - I'm not crazy/wild about coconut, but gotta admit a good Coconut Cream Pie is really tasty!
JJ - Great minds! I have some blackberries in the freezer that I was thinking about turning into a pie! (We can't grow them around here; these came from Idaho via a generous friend.)
kayceebeebee - Yes, ma'am! It is hard to decide, isn't it?
My favorite has got to be blueberry. With a side of coconut merangue.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'd LOVE to try more pie recipes, I also am having trouble with "recipe bookshelf overloading" so will have to pass on the Pie Book Giveaway.
Please enter my name in your drawing!
ReplyDeleteFavorite? How can I possibly choose? I love apple, cherry, pumpkin, raspberry, blueberry, peach, banana cream, etc etc etc. I think I demanded apple pie for my first 5 birthdays if the pictures are any indication :)
Please enter me! My favorite is pecan or lemon meringue or cherry or apple or strawberry or sweet potato. It depends on which one I'm eating at the moment. :)
ReplyDeleteCarolyn Renee- I can totally understand your recipe bookshelf overload. No fear. I promise not to enter your name!
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at your "blueberry with side of coconut meringue!!"
Jen and Leigh - I had no idea there were so many pieoholics like me out there! I'm starting to feel somehow validated in my outlandish love of pie. :o}
I would love to be added in that drawing! And my favorite pie....apple of course.
ReplyDeleteLNL - Apple? I would have thought you would pick Pumpkin Pie with all that wonderful pumpkin puree you have put by! :o}
ReplyDeleteI would love to be in the drawing. I saw the title of your blog, was inspired, and immediately started baking a crumb topped apple pie. It was divine! I could never name a favorite pie.... anything with fruit!
ReplyDeleteCannot believe you are giving away a pie cookbook? Did the cabinet coating fumes do something nasty to your brain? Well, if you don't want the book, put my name in the hat also. My favorite fruit pie is pumpkin .... pumpkin is a fruit, right? But my favorite pie of all is my Mom's Pineapple Cheese Pie. Good thing it is almost dinner time.
ReplyDeleteSharon - Yup, I think fruit pies are my favorite, too. Cherry, peach, apple, on and on. My last apple pie was a two crust but hubby prefers the crumb top like you made. So he gets his preference next.
ReplyDeleteKaren L. I'm getting ruthless about clearing out cook book, aren't I?
My daughter's favorite pie is pumpkin, too. Pineapple Cheese Pie? Now that is one I've never heard of. You must give us more info!
Oh my - I am feeling the need to make an apple pie with a crumble top now. Michigan has a real wealth of apple varieties to choose from just now!
ReplyDeleteI love love love pie. And pie crust. Put my name in the drawing, please! My favorite pie is either carrot pie or "Tears on my Pillow" pie which is basically pecan pie filling...without the pecans. :)
ReplyDeleteJen - My day is getting stranger and stranger. I KNOW I answered this comment of yours earlier today . . . but it disappeared. Early Halloween goblins playing tricks on me?
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, you are in prime apple country now so take advantage of it and use all of them that you can. Yum!
Mama Tea - Well, you made a believer of me with your Buttermilk Pie but you're gonna have to do some more talking with your pecan pie filling withOUT the pecans???
please put my name in the hat....I love blackberry cobbler! with blueberry coming in a close second.....
ReplyDeleteWendy - Your name has been added!
