Both Of Us Are Now Totally Worthless

I woke at 2:15 this morning and couldn't fall back asleep so I padded into my quilt studio and played until Papa Pea woke at 6.

He left home at 9 this morning to go help a friend work on a concrete project. At 6 p.m. he returned home looking not quite as sparky as he was when he left. At dinner he did a little figuring and says today he lifted and moved approximately 2,700 pounds of concrete mix.

As he was going up the stairs to his office a couple of minutes ago, I head him trip, stumble, catch himself and ask, "Where's the elevator when you need one?"

Even after being up since too, too early this morning and not being worth a tinker's da*n all day, I think I'm ending the day in better shape than he is.

So what are we going to do for relaxation tomorrow? Chicken butchering if the weather cooperates. Do we know how to have fun or what?

  5. Oh ouch! I think you two need a holiday where you can just do whatever you like. Key word is like not "need" or "have to".
I hope your chicken butchering goes as planned tomorrow. Nothing better than a good roast chicken.

  6. jees louise -tell that guy to slow down before he hurts his-self-that is way too much poundage to be fooling with all day-must have been a good friend.I'm wiping my brow telling myself ,wpew ,you 2 are almost done with the house ,you can take a breather ,but I know the saying ,if you slow down too much one day, thinks will start to get slower the following days, gotta keep a pace and what are you doing up at 2:15?boy .I better go back to bed .I sound B..... in the middle of the night

  7. My evil plan worked.
Sorry-couldn't resist. But, you got to the quilt studio. That's a bright side!
    :)
    Hope you sleep better!
I love my schedule, but realize it's whacko.

  8. Wow, that is a lot of concrete! Hope he didn't overdo. Can't wait to see pics of the chicken butchering. I need to find a way to estimate what we would need for our family ... we eat a LOT of chicken (ie: a couple times a week).Hope you both get some much needed rest today.

  10. Judy - I know. The good times just never stop on a homestead, do they?

Lori - 'Bout half way through the butchering today, I was beginning to wonder about that "love life" bit! ;o]

Sparkless - Butchering day was a success. Going to get a post up now.

judy - I'm afraid if we slow down, rust will set in!

Sue - Yes, I think your (not evil) plan is working. Now where did you say you get energy to keep going all day when you get up at that ungodly hour?

Stephanie - No rest for us today. Just finished butchering. The freezer is now restocked with lots of good chickie meat!

Erin - Insert hysterical laughter here. No rest for the wicked obviously. Just finished packaging the last of the butchered chicken. Whatever will we find to do tonight? Daughter gave us a copy of "True Grit." Wonder if I can get my husband to actually take the time to watch it?

  11. Sorry, Mama Pea--I have no idea how I get by on 4-6 hours of sleep. Naturally hyper? Too much coffee? The THREE times in my life I had 7 or 8 hours of sleep I felt like death warmed over all day. I must have screwy wiring.
Don would knod a hearty agreement to that-LOL!

  12. So, let me see if I have this right. On a day "off", you get 2 hours of sleep and Papa Pea hefts wet cement?
