I can now finally stop complaining to you about the polying I have left to do.
I can scarcely believe it, but I got the very last coat of poly on the last fourteen cabinet doors today. Wa-hoo!
Oh, I know there will no doubt be something here or there that I'll still have to put some sealer on before this gargantuan remodeling endeavor of ours is done, but these cabinet doors are the last big project to be done.
Hold it.
Rats.
I just thought of the living room. I know what is going on the ceiling. No polying. I know what is going on the floor. No polying. But we haven't made the decision on the wall covering material yet. Arrrgh! Might I be polying pine boards for paneling? Yeah, it is a possibility. We don't have a lot of wall space in the living room . . . but I suppose it will still amount to more boards than I want to lay out and work on in the garage this winter. How 'bout if I just paint the foil-backed insulation that's been there for umpteen years? That'll give it a new fresh look, no?
Well, I won't think any more about that right now. I'll just celebrate that I can clean my poly brush for the last time for a while anyway. And that feels purdy darn good!
All that polying that is never done is what nightmares are made of. Much like I have the repeating dream of being in high school and not having my class schedule, you will dream for years to come of more things you need to poly:)
ReplyDeleteWell shoot! And here we were beginning to thing you liked huffing those fumes! ;) NOT!
ReplyDeleteHooray for no more poly!!!
Congrats on a bad job well done. Let's hope you choose a less polyful wall covering.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Thank GOD you're finished with that! The last time you blogged and the word "Poly" came up, I said to myself, for gawdssakes will you please let that woman FINSISH with this so she can be over with it already!!!"
ReplyDeleteIt will all be a distant, if not less-than-fond, memory soon :)
Jane - You and I apparently have the same nightmare about not having our class schedules! At the beginning of each semester I put a copy of my schedule as the very front page in a three ring binder I always carried. In my nightmare I'm rushing to a class but I don't know which class it is or where it is and the frantic search for my schedule reveals that it's underneath many other sheets of paper and I can never find it. Do we need a visit to Dr. Freud to find out what this means? We could split the cost of the analysis.
ReplyDeleteAPG - I have been such a good girl and have worn my industrial strength respirator mask every single time I open that awful fumey stuff! Otherwise, I'd be dead by now. :o\
Judy - Hey, I like that: "A bad job well done." I'm gonna remember and use that!
Carolyn Renee - I said to my hubby when I was putting things away this afternoon that although the polying seems like it's taken FOREVER, I will enjoy all the things I worked on for years and won't have to do that job ever again! (I hope.)
YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are happy about that. I'm even happy for you. I'm hoping tomorrow is the day you put the doors on and take a picture so we can all ohhhh and ahhh over how great it looks.
ReplyDeleteGood. Now go out and enjoy the darn weather before it goes to heck!!!
ReplyDeletemy dream was I could not remember the combination to open my locker and that on the last day of school my dad needed to bring the truck to clean the d.... thing out [ not in real life ] but doesn't that say something about my real life if I'm still dreaming it like" CLUTTER" - AND IF YOUR DONE WITH THE FUMES FROM THE POLY I WANT TO SEE YOU PREFORM WALKING A STRAIGHT LINE [ and if you can't ,its off to poly-jail for you ]
ReplyDeleteIt should feel sensational! I remember when we polyed our dining and living room floors. What a job. Of course we stained them first. Whew. Can't wait to see the unveiling of the finished kitchen.
ReplyDeleteFreedom Acres - Double YAY!
ReplyDeleteSparkless - Hanging cabinet doors (and getting them to hang straight) is apparently not for the faint of heart (or novice) so we are going to wait until B comes back some time next week to do the job. I don't want to muck them up at this point!
Sue - I think our colors are at their peak right now!
judy - Yep, our dreams do say a lot about what we're currently or STILL experiencing!
Leigh - Our plywood floors we had throughout the house before this remodeling were stained and then polyed, too. The good thing was we did them BEFORE we moved in. Nobody should remodel or finish building while living in a house. Easily said but hard to do, huh?
OMG, it is the same dream! Maybe we should split the session;) cause we are never going to graduate if we don't get to the right class.
ReplyDeleteWoot! Congratulations on a job well done. Boy oh boy, that kitchen is going to be amazing! And, is that sun I see? I haven't seen it for so long, I may be mistaken...I would tell you not to worry about what MAY need polying yet, but you and I know that worrying is our middle name. Just don't forget to celebrate what you've finshed, my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is looking better day by day, and I'm anxious to see the finished product, but I bet not more than you!!
ReplyDeleteI left 3 doors off after I painted the cupboards and it looks like the long skinny kitchen is a bit wider - what we don't do to fool ourselves!
Hugs
Yvette
Hmmm, I vote for QUILTED insulation backing LOL.... congrats on those cabinet doors!
ReplyDeleteJane - The meaning of this dream must be very basic if we're both having it even after being out of school for so long. (Me much longer than you, of course.) Hmmmm, something about over-achievers not being in control of things? Hmmmm?
ReplyDeleteSusan - Yep, it was a beautiful sunny day yesterday. Perfect for the job at hand. We were supposed to have sun all week but now today . . . it's overcast. (Off with their [weathercasters] heads!!)
Yvette - You weren't trying to fool yourself. You were creatively decorating!
Erin - That may be the only way I get to quilt any time soon!
